(ĐN)- Over the past two months, Bien Hoa city established interdisciplinary inspection teams to conduct food safety checks at 1,300 businesses, food production and processing establishments in the locality. Of which, more than 1,200 had satisfied the required standards, accounting for over 93% and nearly 100 had broken the rules on food hygiene.

Presently, Bien Hoa city has more than 2,500 street food stalls and many of those showed signs of violations. Deputy Director Nguyen Van Trai of Bien Hoa city’s Health Centre pointed to the fact that it’s difficult for relevant agencies to examine street food stalls, which have mushroomed to cater to the various tastes of local people, employees and passers-by.

He also stressed that inspection activities will be strengthened to tackle food safety and hygiene issues in the coming time. Accordingly, the relevant departments and sectors will make their efforts to inspect food at market and street food stalls and urged all local health centres to strengthen preventive measures, control water sources and food, and disseminate information about the disease and sanitation.
