Two 10-year-old boys drowned in a fish pond in the southern province of Dong Nai on Sunday (Jan 1), local police said.
Luong Duc Hanh and Bui Van Phong, both fifth graders of Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School in Tan Phu District, and two classmates went to a fish pond behind the house of Dao Thi Yen, a resident of Dac Lua Commune, to swim.
There were no adults around at that time.
When they swam to the middle of the pond, Hanh and Phong drowned, probably because of deep water, police said.
Local residents successfully rescued the two classmates.
