A 16-seater passenger car suddenly burst into flame on National Road 1A in Dong Nai province, causing panic to many people aboard.
The car was going in the direction from Dau Giay to Ho Chi Minh city. At the crossroads near the Amata industrial area, passers-by saw a blaze coming from the car and shouted out to alert the driver.
He immediately stopped the vehicle.
Passengers panicked and elbowed each other to try to get out. Some kicked the door and broke the window glasses to escape.
Some of them were injured and were taken to Dong Nai hospital.
Locals tried to extinguish the fire but failed as the fire had become too strong.
Receiving reports from locals, police and firemen in Dong Nai arrived in two fire trucks and put out the blaze within 30 minutes.
However, the car, together with the passengers’ luggage, was completely burned.
The incident caused traffic congestion on National Road 1A for hours.
Investigators in Dong Nai province are examining the scene to find the causes.
