(ĐN)- Around 150 overseas Vietnamese gathered at a special event in Bien Hoa city on Jan. 14 evening to celebrate the coming Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival. The event was attended by Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tri of the provincial People’s Committee.
The annual event is held before Tet to welcome Vietnamese expatriates returning home for their country's biggest festival.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Chien of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee said Dong Nai has made important achievements, including economic growth, ensuring social security, keeping social and political order thanks to the efforts and contributions made by the local people, including overseas Vietnamese communities. He expressed his belief that overseas Vietnamese communities will continue their contributions to the province’s social and economic development, try their best to stabilize their lives and keep their traditional characteristics.
Speaking about their new year's wishes, all said they hope Vietnam in general and Dong Nai in particular will continue to develop and provide a source of pride for all Vietnamese expatriates.
