Provincial library celebrates 35th anniversary

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai provincial library recently held a ceremony at the province’s Convention Centre to celebrate its 35th founding anniversary and receive the Second Class Labor Medal awarded by the State President.

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai provincial library recently held a ceremony at the province’s Convention Centre to celebrate its 35th founding anniversary and receive the Second Class Labor Medal awarded by the State President. The event saw the attendance of Head of the provincial Department of Propaganda and Training Huynh Van Toi and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri.

There are currently 927 libraries across the province and the province’s libraries have so far collected and stored over 6.6 million books. In addition, the province has built a an E-library system since 2006. The e-library system which connects 15 districts’ libraries has brought big facilities to readers, allowing to expand the scope of searching and collecting documents. Especially, it allows bringing information to residents in rural areas.
 
Addressing at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tri praised the efforts made by the staff of the provincial library during the past 35 years and he also urged the provincial library to pay special attention to readers who are workers at the province’s industrial zones and people in deep-lying and remote areas, contributing to build a new cultural life in rural areas.
 
At the ceremony, three individuals of the provincial library were granted the PM’s Certificate of Merit and two units and six individuals received certificates of merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
On this occasion, the Dong Nai People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to 11 units and 21 individuals in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the provincial library.
