Over VND5 bil mobilized for AO victims

(ĐN)- Since the beginning of the year till now, Dong Nai provincial AO/dioxin Victims’ Association and its agencies raised more than VND5 billion to help AO suffers.

(ĐN)- Since the beginning of the year till now, Dong Nai provincial AO/dioxin Victims’ Association and its agencies raised more than VND5 billion to help AO suffers. With this fund, the association built houses, provided financial supports and regular allowances, offered free medical check-ups and home-based health care for AO victims.

Over the past nine months, Fund for AO/dioxin victims spend nearly VND400 million to build 15 houses and repair 3 others. The association and its agencies provided loans without interest totaling VND275 million to help the victims to develop production and stabilize their life.

Besides, 76 households of AO victims across the province received more than 300 piglets from “Overcoming difficulties with Anco Group” programme at a total cost of over VND900 million.

The association also cooperated with Dong Nai Newspaper, VMEP, Anco and Department of Education and Training to award 226 “Giving strength to students” scholarships worth a total of more than VND300 million to students, who are affected by Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin.

In this period, it mobilized 22 organizations and 11 individuals to provide monthly allowances worth VND200,000 each for 104 AO suffers with difficult circumstances. The association also coordinated with hospital inside and outside the province to launch projects to help local AO victims improve their health and integrate into the community. A rehabilitation centre for AO victims was put into operation in Dinh Quan district; it’s now home to 27 AO victims and disabled children.

From now until the end of this year, the association will continue its efforts to take care of the victims, raise more fund for AO victims to help them to overcome difficulties and enjoy a better life.
