Dong Nai to host first forest festival

(ĐN)-  Dong Nai province is preparing for the hosting of a forest festival at Dong Nai World Biosphere Reserve in 2013, according to Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The event, the first of its kind in Viet Nam, was approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Director of Dong Nai Tourism Promotion Center Vo Thi Thu Trang. 
 
As scheduled, the festival will last for 3-4 days, focusing on how to effectively protect forests and forest resources. The event will also include mountain climbing, camping and sports competitions.

In addition, the festival will represent daily life and activities of ethnic minorities groups residing in the biosphere reserve.

The biosphere reserve is now home to 1,700 rare creatures and over 700 species of animals, of which 40 species have been listed in the IUCN Red List of endangered animals.
