Efforts to alleviate AO victims’ plight

(ĐN)- Dong Nai provincial AO/dioxin Victims’ Association was established in 2007. Over the past four years, the association and its agencies have made all-out efforts in a bid to provide support to the Vietnamese Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims.

Awarding scholarships to AO victims' children
From 2007 till now, the province’s fund for AO victims mobilized donations from 1,675 organizations and 528 individuals to help the victims. 

The donations came to more than VND13 billion, from various sources, including Agro Nutrition International J.V Co., Long Thanh Golf Club, Mr. Pham Huu Tinh, Mr. Do Huu Tai, etc.

The money was used to build and upgrade 111 houses totaling over VND2.1 billion, provide monthly allowances worth VND200,000 each for 172 victims, offer free medical check-ups and home-based health care for AO victims to help them improve their health and integrate into the community.

The fund also provide free vocational training, loans and livestock breeding to AO families  with difficulties to help them boost household economies, awarded scholarships to their children.

In the coming time, the association will continue its efforts to provide more care services and put forth necessary policies to help AO victims enjoy a better life.
