
(ĐN)- Dong Nai is now home to more than 148,000 elderly people, with 1,590 people aged 90 and 70 aged 100 years old, according to the report of the provincial Elderly People Association.
(ĐN)- Dong Nai is now home to more than 148,000 elderly people, with 1,590 people aged 90 and 70 aged 100 years old, according to the report of the provincial Elderly People Association.
Particularly, the province’s leaders led delegations to visit and present gifts for local elderly people. In 2011 alone, the province’s representatives visited and wished longevity to more than 7,800 elders, presented Tet gifts totaling over VND3.4 billion to poor elderly people.
Besides, the provincial Elderly Association and its grassroots units organized sport and entertainment activities, held tours for members to visit the tourist areas; the activities aim to help the elderly people to live happy and healthy lives.
The association has cooperated with departments, agencies and localities to provide special care and medical treatment for elderly people.
Until now, the provincial Elderly Association and its agencies raised more than VND18.3 billion to help poor members, build houses and award scholarships to the members’ children and outstanding poor students.
Over the past time, the association’s members actively contributed their ideas to the province’s socio-economic development plans.
