According to the program, Dong Nai’s new poverty line is tentatively set at VND850,000 per capita per month for people in urban areas, and VND650,000 per capita for those living in rural areas. With the new criteria, total number of poor households in the province will be 42-45 thousand of households, accounting for 8.5-9% of the population.
Dong Nai plans to reduce the rate of poor households to below 2% by 2015. Accordingly, the province needs around VND972 billion in order to fulfill the target.
Chairman Mot also asked provincial localities to issue their own criteria of poverty line based on their own real socio-economic conditions.
