First "healthcare resort" opens in Viet Nam

Viet Nam is taking its first tentative steps towards medical tourism with the opening of a health care-cum-tourism resort in the southern seaside town of Vung Tau.

Viet Nam is taking its first tentative steps towards medical tourism with the opening of a health care-cum-tourism resort in the southern seaside town of Vung Tau.

 

Medicoast opened on Feb. 11 offering first aid, paediatrics, obstetrics, eye, surgery, orthopaedics, dietetics and other services plus full travel packages for both domestic and foreign tourists.

 

Built by Vung Tau Tourism and the Medical Care Company, the resort is estimated to have cost 80 billion VND (5 million USD) including 3.1 million USD for medical equipment.

 

It comprises of two multi-storeyed housing blocks with one exclusively reserved for health care services.

 

The other seven-storeyed building contains 130 rooms and a 300-seat restaurant besides a sanatorium and entertainment centre.

 

The resort will also offer sporting and leisure activities like table tennis, billiards, and karaoke besides the eco-tours.
