ITU Digital World is an annual event of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) where telecommunications and IT businesses around the world introduce the most advanced products, services and technology solutions.
Under the framework of ITU Digital World 2021, the ITU Ministerial Roundtables and workshops will discuss development trends, management policies, and technology solutions to promote the digital economy and digital society.
Formerly known as the ITU Telecom World, this event was officially renamed as ITU Digital World from 2020 as the initiative of Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications of Nguyen Manh Hung. This year, the online platform for the exhibition has been further improved by Vietnamese businesses, with many new features.
Similar to an on-site exhibition, the ITU Digital World 2021 will include online exhibition activities and an online forum. Participating in the online exhibition, organizations and businesses will demonstrate 2D and 3D online booths, display their products, services, and digital solutions. The booths will be maintained for one month from October 12 to November 12, 2021. The online exhibition is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to promote their brands, expand markets, and approach customers and partners from ITU's 193 member countries.
The online forum will take place from September to November 2021 and the ITU Ministerial Roundtables will be held on October 12-14, with the theme "Building a digital world together", under 3 pillars: Necessary infrastructure for digital transformation; Investment and facilitation of digital transformation through policy; Key factors for digital transformation.
The symposium held in September 2021 discussed “Necessary Infrastructure for Digital Transformation,” focusing on next-generation networks, changing the space for digital transformation, growth and frequency management, and 5G – fuel for digital transformation.
The ITU Ministerial Roundtables will be held on October 12-14 with the participation of ministers of many countries around the world. They will discuss the following topics: Cutting access network costs to accelerate digital transformation; Accelerating infrastructure development: the role of the Government in digital transformation; Digitizing daily life: public services and digital transformation-driven content.
The symposium in November 2021 will discuss “Agents for digital transformation: digital skills - educational technology, cybersecurity and privacy, green ICT, AI, energy efficiency quality and sustainable development.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will have the opportunity to participate in the ITU SME Virtual Awards, which will play the role of a "Platform to help businesses take off" and focus on 5 areas: Connection, Smart Cities, E-Health, Digital Finance and Technology Training. The award will be granted in December 2021.
The ITU Digital World and the ITU Ministerial Roundtable 2021 will be an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the image of a dynamic country and to help Vietnam affirm its position and demonstrate its ability to implement initiatives on international cooperation in the fields of telecommunications and IT in accordance with the spirit of comprehensive digital transformation.
In 2020, the first online ITU Digital World was held at the initiative of Vietnam, with the participation of delegates from 149 countries around the world. The success of this event contributes to consolidating and enhancing Vietnam's position internationally and affirming the technological capacity of Vietnamese enterprises.
