Electronic medical declarations
Since 6 am March 7, Vietnam has required compulsory health declarations from all passengers entering Vietnam.
High tech helps in fight against Covid-19 in Vietnam
People arriving to Vietnam from all countries have to fill out a declaration of health upon their arrival.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) joined forces with the large mobile network operators (Viettel and VNPT) and IT firms to develop a process and application for declaration that is simple and convenient for travelers.
With the declaration form, people entering Vietnam can make declaration on their mobile phones. When following check-in procedures, each passenger scans the QR Code to find what they need to declare.
All information from the declaration forms will be automatically updated to the epidemic prevention center and appropriate agencies for management.
Online Covid-19 treatment support center
On March 5, the Ministry of Health’s Administration of Examination and Treatment and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control launched the center for online management and support for Covid-19 diagnosis and treatment.
With the support of IT, central specialists can see patients and their parameters, vital functions and conditions from anywhere. This allows them to help local medical centers to make timely treatment decisions.
As the coronavirus has spread rapidly, the lack of resuscitation doctors is anticipated. Therefore, the establishment of the center is an urgent task.
Made-in-Vietnam testing kit
Vietnam has the capacity to produce 10,000 test kits for testing SARS-CoV-2 each day, and if necessary, the capacity could be tripled.
Experts say the production capacity is high enough to satisfy domestic needs or provide international aid in case Covid-19 breaks out in many countries.
The test kits are made on the production line meeting ISO 13485 standards and the laboratory conducting research meets ISO Class * standards.
The test kit has been tested for sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and repeatability at the standard laboratory at Viet A Technology JSC and the Military Medical Academy.
Made-in-Vietnam test kit has criteria equivalent to that of products made by US CDC and WHO. These criteria were independently tested at the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
Can Tho to have lab capable of diagnosing Covid-19
Can Tho City Disease Control Center is capable of carrying out tests to find SARS-CoV-2. Regarding the facilities and equipment, the center needs to take additional measures to ensure biosafety and legal properties.
The center has sent two officers to the training course at Pasteur Institute in HCM City. It is expected that the Pasteur Institute will say if the center can get recognition about the testing ability prior to March 15.
