An exhibition introducing the latest Taiwanese products using smart and environmentally-friendly technology will be held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City on July 26-28.
The Taiwan Expo 2018 will be co-organised by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Vietnam National Trade Fair & Advertising Company (VINEXAD), as heard at a press conference on July 19.
The event aims to promote cooperation between Taiwanese firms and organisations with their Vietnamese counterparts, expanding their areas of collaboration.
More than 5,500 creative products will be on display, said TAITRA Director Felix Chiu. Various trade activities are set to take place during the expo, namely the Taiwanese Medical Day, seminars on “Excellent Smart Life” and “Future Trends of the Orchid Industry”, and performances of Taiwanese culture, among others.
Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in HCM City Simon Gon noted that in 2017, trade between Vietnam and Taiwan (China) hit 13.6 billion USD, a rise of 10.81 percent year-on-year, while Taiwan’s total investment in Vietnam was 31 billion USD.
There are more than 300 Vietnamese people living in Taiwan, he added.
