Vietnam's first member of Academy of Overseas Sciences

Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Dien from the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam, will be admitted to the French Academy of Overseas Sciences on November 17, according to the University of Economics and Law under the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Dien from the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam, will be admitted to the French Academy of Overseas Sciences on November 17, according to the University of Economics and Law under the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien is the first Vietnamese to be made an official member of the Academy.

Previously, he has won the highest French distinction “Knight of the Legion of Honour” for his contributions to developing Vietnam-French relations.

He is also chairman of the Member Universities of the Agence Universitaire de La Francophonie (CONFRASIE) in Asia-Pacific.

The Academy of Overseas Sciences was established in 1922,and now has 41 official members. Many of them are former politicians of Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Brazil.
