Some 150 exhibitors came from 15 countries and territories including Japan, South Korea, India, and Turkey, apart from China, Taiwan (China), Singapore, and Thailand. Exhibitors from Hong Kong, Germany, Australia, and Switzerland, in addition to the United States and hosts Viet Nam, were also present.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Phan Tam said the Vietnam ICT COMM 2016 was an important investment promotion activity with the presence of hundreds of booths of telecom and IT companies from many countries and territories. The full participation of these companies has proved that Viet Nam's telecom market still has great potential to grow. And a large number of local companies joining the event has shown significant development in the Vietnamese ICT industry.

Deputy Minister Tam said that this was a good start for the first year after the deployment of the national plan on broadband telecommunications by 2020, was approved by the prime minister in January this year. Along with a plan to deploy advanced 4G broadband infrastructure in the fourth quarter of this year, the Ministry of Information and Communication believed that many ICT products, services and solutions being displayed at the show will soon become a reality.

In addition, several seminars on the latest trends of technology, IT products, the direction and policies of the government will be conducted. The seminars will focus on trends in technologies, products and services and introduce 4G-LTE technology, high-speed Internet access, big data, and IT solutions to support e-government and business as well as security solutions, in addition to digital content services, radio, digital TV, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Tam said he hoped that exhibition and seminars at Vietnam Comm 2016 will be a useful forum to connect businesses and was an effective interaction channel between policy-makers and the business community that contributes towards improving the legal climate for sustainable development of the ICT sector in Viet Nam.
