Nuclear reactor simulation system launched

A system simulating the VVER-1200 nuclear reactor was launched in Hanoi on December 9, which is part of a Technical Assistance Project between the Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The IAEA-funded system, worth more than 200,000 EUR, is the first real-life-time simulator of the VVER-1200 reactor in Vietnam, which is equipped with more than 155 interactive interfaces and capable to develop simulated scenario of any errors during operation.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Director of the Department Hoang Anh Tuan said the WER is a state-of-the-art technology of Russia which has been selected for the Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power project.

The system will be run by staff from the Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency under the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Atomic Energy Institute for training personnel for the nuclear power sector.
