Xilef and HoiAn, both from Viet Nam, finished second and third, respectively. The winning team was awarded VND30 million (more than US$1,360), while the teams that were placed second and third received VND5 million ($227) and VND3 million ($136), respectively.

The contest, organised by cyber security forum whitehat.vn on July 25, attracted 192 teams, of which 144 were foreign. This was the first time the contest, held every quarter, accepted the participation of foreign squads.

The teams had to solve problems in different categories, such as reverse engineering, and cryptography challenges in the jeopardy-style capture-the-flag competition within 12 hours.

The contest aimed to test the knowledge of the participants in computer security, focusing on attack and defence skills.
