Vietnam ranks 85th out of 143 economies around the world on the networked readiness index, down one notch from the previous year, according to a report by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Singapore tops the world ranking of network-ready countries in 2015, replacing Finland, which had been number one since 2013.
The other countries in the top ten are Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg and Japan.
In the ASEAN region, Malaysia ranks 32nd, down two places, Thailand remains the same at 67th and the Philippines climbed two notches to 76th.
Indonesia dropped 15 places to 79th, while Laos leapt 12 positions to rank 97th. Cambodia dropped two places to 110th.
The networked readiness index measures 143 economies in terms of their capacity to prepare for, use and leverage information and communications technology (ICT).
The report shows that the gap between the best and worst performing economies is widening with those in the top 10% having seen twice the level of improvement since 2012 as those in the bottom 10%.
It notes that government leadership in the creation of a good regulatory and business environment with competitive ICT markets is a fundamental requirement for all countries.
