Fourteen Vietnamese executives received the titles of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Security Officer (CSO) at the 10th ASEAN CIO/CSO Awards presentation ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on December 2.

Six others from ASEAN member nations were also honoured at the event.

Hosted by the International Data Group (IDG), the awards aim to commend outstanding individuals from domestic businesses, State agencies, and foreign firms and organisations for their significant contributions to bettering their units’ operation and to the socio-economic development in general through their initiatives on IT and security.

Organised annually in Vietnam since 2005, the CIO title is the most celebrated award in the IT field while the CSO award has been given out five times.

This is the second time the two awards have been presented in a single event, showing the two fields’ close link in creating a stable foundation for the IT sector’s development.

In the framework of the event, the organiser also announced outstanding IT products voted by CIO and CSO. The awards fell into the hands of Samsung Group with its smartphone product and Scheider Electric Group with its APC-branded Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system.

On the same day, IDG in collaboration with the CEO&CIO Club held a conference on issues concerning IT and information security.

It provided a good chance for participants to introduce latest technological solutions and discuss how to further promote the development of the IT sector in the future.
