The Ho Chi Minh City Young Businesspeople and the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association today jointly hosted the Vietnam ICT Outlook 2014 seminar, aiming to bring up a comprehensive picture of the deployment of technology trends on the third platform in Vietnam and across the globe.

Information technology industry has made strides with great waves that create a strong thrust to enhance performance of organisations from enterprises to government sector, as well as bring a better life to people. Starting with the first platform based on supercomputers and terminals during the 70s-80s, through the last decade of the 20th century, the launch of the second platform helped to boost the trend of personalised computers and the wave of internet connection. To date, the third platform with the rise of cloud computing, mobile technologies, social media, big data and internet of things have made a new revolution in the world of technology and bring opportunities to connect to billion people and tens of billion devices.

With the theme of VIO 2014 with the theme “The Third Platform – Trend and realistic deployment”, the Vietnam ICT Outlook (VIO) 2014 is an opportunity for Microsoft to affirm its strong development in the era of cloud computing. With a vision to assist governments, businesses and users around the globe in utilising potential power of cloud computing, Microsoft conquers customers across the globe with its optimum cloud solutions, from private cloud, public cloud to hybrid cloud.

At Microsoft, we always strive to bring the best and reliable cloud experience to customers. We also support customers to choose location and method to use services – on private cloud, public cloud or a combination of both. Our global big investments in cloud data center, rich ecosystem from partners and developers, together with ability to provide great tools in the cloud are the proven evidence for commitment from Microsoft to maximize benefits to customers in the journey to the era of cloud,” said Vu Minh Tri, general director of Microsoft Vietnam.

In this seminar, Microsoft has emphasised the hybrid cloud model and the on-time entrance of this solution, when organisations and businesses rapidly move to the cloud and try to find ways to develop and expand infrastructure to operate within limited budgets. At enterprises, data center plays a role as the "brain" for the whole IT system, supporting in analysis and processing of information that help the management board to react quickly to challenges and new opportunities, generate strategic decision to successfully lead and manage their organisation.

"With our hybrid cloud services, Microsoft has realised the needs for a datacenter without boundaries, helping enterprises to get the seamless connection between infrastructures in their location and public cloud. Taking advantage of the remarkable features from Window Server, Microsoft System Center, Microsoft SQL Server and Window Azure, enterprises are now able to build infrastructures with high level of flexibility and security, and able to be expanded,” emphasised Arun Ulagaratchagan, general manager of Server and Tools at Microsoft Asia Pacific.

In December 2013, Microsoft officially launched the Microsoft Cloud OS Network - a worldwide consortium of leading cloud service providers who have embraced Microsoft’s Cloud OS strategy. These organisations offer hybrid cloud solutions delivered from a Microsoft Cloud Platform implementation. The platform is comprised of Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V, System Center 2012 R2 and Windows Azure Pack. The close collaboration between Microsoft and these partners will accelerate the process to bring hybrid cloud solutions to businesses.

“The power of cloud computing brings both opportunities and challenges to businesses. The engagement of comprehensive cloud solutions, especially the hybrid model from Microsoft, has been identified as a great opportunity that helps business to optimize performance with the minimum investment costs. This creates an impetus for the business to move forward,” said Tran Anh Tuan, head of Cloud Solutions, Sao Bac Dau Technologies Corporation.
