Nearly 25 million of the 36 million Internet users in Vietnam have Facebook accounts, according to a Danish market research agency.

The report indicates 97% of respondents have Facebook accounts to contact their friends and relatives, share experiences and market products and services.

A report by Epinion on the number of Facebook users in Vietnam includes results of a survey that the agency conducted last month based on online interviews with over 1,000 Vietnamese people aged over 18.

Tran Lien Phuong, research director at Epinion Vietnam, said social media in Vietnam is growing fast, with Facebook seeing the number of subscribers doubling each year.

According to the survey, the social network is the most favorite channel for people to share information (78%), followed by email (44%) and free messaging applications like Viber, Skype and Zalo (21%).

Interestingly, the survey also pointed out the reasons for Facebook users to unfriend someone in their list. Up to 60% of respondents say they feel annoyed with meaningless information and statuses.

Other reasons are that users do not want to read negative updates, are tagged to irrelevant things and game links with 54%, 50% and 49% respectively.

The survey showed 83% click on the like button to express their interest in humorous updates about families and children, and 58% about charity activities.
