Scientists have discovered a new species of lizard with a small size, head and body length of about 35 mm in the central province of Quang Ngai.

According to information on the website of the Academy of Science and Technology of Vietnam, the new species of lizard is named Pheno shea Sphenomorphus sheai Nguyen, Nguyen, Van Devender, Bonkowski & Ziegler, 2013.

It is named after the Australian researcher, Dr. Glenn Shea for his contributions in the study of reptiles in the Asia Pacific region.

This species has a small size, with head and body length of about 35 mm and 20 rows of scales around the body.

This species of lizards was found in a survey of the Wildlife at Risk in Ba To district, the central province of Quang Ngai.

The discovery was published in the journal Zootaxa, New Zealand in November 2013. This is the second Phenol lizard species found in Vietnam.
