The operation of the Viet Nam Natural Resources, Environment, Disaster Satellite (VNREDSat-1) was officially transferred to the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

A ceremony for this event was attended by Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan, VAST Director Chau Van Minh, and French Ambassador to Viet Nam Jean Noel Pirier in Ha Noi on September 4.
VNREDSAT – 1 has been operating in a stable manner after it was launched into orbit three months ago. Features and technical parameters of VNREDSat-1 have been qualified.
The satellite had captured, transmitted, received and processed 79,271 images, including 909 ones of Viet Nam.
So far, Vietnamese scientists and technicians running the satellite had successfully completed training courses and are ready to operate the equipment by themselves.
Addressing the event, Deputy PM Nhan asserted that this is a special event in Viet Nam’s space technology following the previous successful projects -Vinasat 1 and Vinasat 2.
He hoped that VNREDSat-1 would help enable the country to better monitor and study the effects of climate change, predict and take measures to prevent natural disasters, and optimize the management of its natural resources.
