The new frog species has the scientific name as Rhacophorus helenae sp. nov (also called helen tree frog). The researchers discovered them in the survey from the Nui Ong Nature Reserve in Binh Thuan province to the watershed protection forests in Thac Mai, Dong Nai province.

To honor the contribution to the discovery of new species in Vietnam of Helen M.Rowley, the author announced to use her name for the new frog species.

Rhacophorus helenae frogs are quite big in size. The male frogs have body length of 72.3-85.5 mm, the females from 89.4 to 90.7 mm.

According to the Vietnam Creatures website, the new frog species have green color with white spots on the back and the head. They have large webbed feet, wide arm skin folds that helps the frog throw down from the tree.
