For the very first time, a transplanting machine has been introduced to farmers in Hoa Binh District in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu.

Staff of Kubota Vietnam Company presented the new machine and demonstrated its use in front of hundreds of farmers in the district.

The machine is an effective way to improve agriculture production. With a compact body and light weight of 160 kilogram, the machine can work in a depth of three inches to cover 1.5 hectares a day, thereby replacing about 27 laborers.

It will bring economic benefits 20 times more than through manual labor.

Do Van Hai from Kubota Vietnam Company said if farmers use the new machine, they will only need 63 kilograms of rice seed per hectare while they need 200 kilograms when they transplant by hand. The machine can save 50 percent production costs, bringing in more profits for farmers.

Farmer Dao Nhung in Hoa Binh District said the advantage of the machine is that it can work in deep water as well as settled land and its price of VND78 million (US$3,714) is affordable to most farmers.
