The Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2013 (ABU Robocon 2013) will be held from August 14-18 in Viet Nam’s coastal city of Da Nang.
The competition, the 12th of its kind, will focus on a global issue which is themed “The Green Planet.”
Each team will control their two robots to plant trees in seven positions on a model of the Earth (8.5m in diameter) and sow seeds on the Moon (at the height of 1.5m) by a throw from a distance of 3m.
Viet Nam once hosted the same event in 2007 and won the championships three times in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
Last year, six students from Lac Hong University representing Viet Nam at the 11th Asia-Pacific Robocon Contest in Hong Kong came in second after being outclassed by their Chinese opponents in the final round on August 19.
