Creativity among young people is one of the three core revolutionary action movements of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, aimed at encouraging and promoting the spirit of creativity and bold thinking and action among young people across all fields of study, labor and production.

In implementing this movement, Youth Unions at all levels have joined forces over recent years, organizing a wide range of practical activities aligned with the needs of local youth and children and the political tasks of each locality and unit. These efforts have contributed to fostering the creative spirit of union members and young people.

Youth Unions at all levels join forces

Commenting on the journey to build a learning and creative environment for students at Binh Long High School for the Gifted, Deputy Secretary of the school’s Youth Union Tran Hai Phuong Quynh said that 100% of the school’s teachers are encouraged and supported to design digital lessons in various formats. All students can use at least one digital learning tool for study and content creation. The school has also developed a website integrating learning materials and self-study guidance.

Notably, the school’s Youth Union has organized communication activities to raise awareness among Youth Union officers, young teachers and students about the importance of digital transformation, innovation and scientific research. The school’s Youth Union also founded the Tech & AI Friends Club with more than 100 technology enthusiasts. The club has held regular workshops on AI chatbots, image and video creation, as well as large-scale thematic sessions for union members and students. In addition, the Youth Union has proactively connected with major universities in Ho Chi Minh City to organize six trial classes on artificial intelligence (AI), information security, communication, digital design and academic English.

Nguyen Minh Kien, Member of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC) and Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Dong Nai province and Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, noted that the Dong Nai Youth Union always focuses on activities that inspire and promote the creativity of young members. Between 2022 and 2025, the Provincial Youth Union has organized dozens of specialized conferences, training courses on AI applications and digital transformation; held 170 digital transformation and digital skills training courses for more than 130,000 union members; and established the Young Innovators Club.

Furthermore, for many years, the Youth Union has consistently organized the Creative and Responsible Youth Festival; the STEM Festival – Unlimited Creativity; the Young Informatics Contest; the STEM–Robotics Contest; as well as academic forums and conferences. Since 2024, to promote scientific research movement among students and young lecturers, the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Students’ Association have jointly organized a scientific research camp. Participants had the opportunity to meet experts, receive inspiration for scientific research and learn research methodologies. These initiatives have significantly boosted the Creative Youth Movement, providing a platform for young people to express themselves and unlock their potential.

Creativity across all fields

With the active participation of Youth Unions at all levels, the Creative Youth Movement has received enthusiastic support from young union members and young people. Many outstanding examples of creativity among young union members and young people in study and work have emerged.

A student of class 11A1 at Chu Van An A High School (in Chon Thanh ward), Ho Ngoc Ha Giang is among a small group of high school union members honored by the Provincial Youth Union for outstanding achievements in the Creative Youth Movement. Giang said her recognition came from several achievements, including third prize at the Provincial Technical Innovation Contest for the 2024–2025 school year.

Elaborating on the award-winning project, Giang explained that she noticed many households piling agricultural by-products in a corner of their garden to decompose naturally before using them as fertilizer. Although convenient, this method caused unpleasant odors. Therefore, Giang and her teammates developed a solution using microorganisms to produce organic fertilizer from agricultural by-products. The by-products are collected, classified, washed, dried and mixed with microbial additives for fermentation. The solution not only eliminates odors but also enhances nutrient content and has commercial potential.

Over more than 10 years working at Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd. (in Tan Trieu ward), Nguyen Danh Nghia cannot recall how many innovations and technical improvements he has proposed. Most recently, he and his colleagues proposed using an automatic glue-spraying machine combined with AI camera technology to apply glue to components before they are attached to shoes.

Later this afternoon (December 5), the first session of the 1st Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union Congress, term 2025–2030, will take place at the Dong Nai Provincial Convention Center with the participation of 259 official delegates representing more than 780,000 youth union members and young people across the province. The congress will review the implementation of the Resolution of the Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc Youth Union Congresses for the 2022–2025 period and outline directions and tasks for the new term.

According to Nghia, each production line has a group of workers who manually pick up components, apply hot glue and attach them to shoes. This manual method results in low productivity, inconsistent glue application and safety risks due to workers’ exposure to hot glue. His team proposed using AI camera technology to recognize components and automatically spray glue, leaving workers only to attach them to shoes. With its advantages in productivity and safety, the innovation has been applied across production lines, saving the company billions of dong each year.

Beyond technical ideas and innovations, many young teachers inspire creativity among union members and students by guiding them in producing entries for scientific and creative competitions. These efforts contribute to building a dynamic learning and working environment, creating practical value for the community and driving sustainable development.
