At the working session, relevant units provided updates on the progress of 5G network development, along with the existing difficulties and challenges encountered during the deployment process. According to telecommunications companies, to implement and expand the 5G network, most BTS stations must be converted from single-phase to three-phase power, as 5G equipment consumes significantly more electricity and requires a stable power supply.

According to data compiled by telecommunications companies, approximately 29% of residents in the province are currently using 5G services. Meanwhile, the resolution of the Provincial Party Committee sets a target of reaching 60% by the end of 2025. Therefore, delays in completing the electrical infrastructure and upgrading 5G at BTS stations could directly impact the province’s ability to meet this target.

Delivering his concluding at the working session, Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Pham Van Trinh requested that telecommunications companies need to actively coordiante with the Department of Industry and Trade and Dong Nai Electricity Company to find solution to solve issues related to completing the electrical infrastructure, thereby enabling the construction and upgrading of 5G BTS stations according to the planned schedule.

In particular, for newly constructed BTS stations, telecommunications companies complete all registration documents and procedures in accordance with regulations and apply a unified deployment process, starting from the survey phase, to avoid arising obstacles during implementation. Particularly, network operators need to pay attention to signal gaps when transitioning to 5G, as well as to sharing infrastructure.

The leadership of the Department of Science and Technology requested that the Department of Industry and Trade and the electricity sector facilitate the provision of three-phase power for BTS stations serving 5G upgrades. Telecommunications companies provide a list of BTS stations requiring power upgrades, specify their three-phase power needs and conversion schedules, and proactively coordinate with relevant agencies and the electricity sector to agree on solutions and promptly address any related obstacles.
