Enhancing the role of science and technology information in socio-economic development

On the afternoon of August 29, at Tran Chi Dao Hall (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), a seminar on The Role of Science and Technology Information in Socio-Economic Development was held.

The seminar was jointly organized by Mot The Gioi magazine and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the event seminar were Huynh Thanh Dat, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Vu Hai Quan, Member of the Party Central Committee and Director of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; Hoang Minh, Deputy Minister of  Science and Technology Ministry; representatives of federations, associations, leaders of universities and research institutes; experts, scientists, researchers, and enterprises in the field of science and technology. Pham Van Trinh, Director of the Dong Nai province Department of Science and Technology, also attended the seminar.

At the seminar, experts, scientists, researchers, and enterprises presented papers and discussions on topics such as the role of science and technology information in socio-economic development, building a science and technology information ecosystem for innovation and digital economy development in Vietnam, managing and exploiting information resources to support scientific research and enhance international publication capacity at Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

In addition, the seminar featured panel discussions on topics such as strategic technologies of the rising era; the demand and current status of science and technology information for enterprises, universities, and research institutes.

Delivering the keynote and opening address, Director of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vu Hai Quan, emphasized that the university has always attached great importance to the foundational role of the science and technology information sector in building Vietnam's science and technology. In today's digital and globalized era, science and technology information is the key that unlocks the door to knowledge, serving as a bridge for scientists and research institutions to access the world's most advanced scientific achievements.

Speaking at the seminar, Huynh Thanh Dat, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, shared:  The seminar served as a forum for scientists, managers, enterprises, and media agencies to exchange views, debate, and propose solutions. The discussions focused on assessing the current situation of access to and sharing of science and technology information, analyzing trends and impacts of new and emerging technologies, improving the quality of information systems at universities and research institutes, while also recommending appropriate mechanisms and policies for the effective management, exploitation, and application of science and technology information.

"These discussions are not only urgent but also of long-term significance, providing important scientific and practical foundations for the leadership, direction, and policy-making of the Party and the State in the new period," Huynh Thanh Dat emphasized.
