The Science and Technology Center (STC), under the Department of Science and Technology (referred to as Dong Nai STC), is currently the unit providing inspection, calibration, testing, and other services. By actively approaching and exploring new customer sources, Dong Nai STC has signed many inspection and calibration service contracts.

Dong Nai STC is striving to soon become a major technical service center in the region and nationwide.

Performing many inspection and calibration services

The Physical Chemistry - Thermoelectricity Department of Dong Nai STC is almost always full of electricity meters, as this is where inspection and comparative inspection services for electricity meters are performed (meters that have been inspected by other units, Dong Nai STC performs comparative inspection). Each electricity meter takes about 2 hours to complete the inspection process and seal. Electricity meters are only put into use in households after undergoing this inspection process and being determined to meet standards and sealed according to regulations.

The Dong Nai STC brand has been granted a trademark registration certificate by the Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Science and Technology (certificate number: 4-0479363-000; date of issue 5-2-2024).

Inspection or comparative inspection of electricity meters is one of many inspection, calibration, and testing service areas that Dong Nai STC is implementing, including: mass, volume; technical, safety (radiation safety, pressure equipment, lifting equipment, dosimeters); chemical - physical (length measuring devices, force measuring devices, laboratory equipment, bricks, tiles, gasoline, oil, lubricants, gold jewelry, etc.); thermoelectricity, etc.

In 2024, Dong Nai STC performed inspection, calibration, and testing of approximately 70 thousand measuring instruments, equipment, and test samples.

The center also provides services in the areas of consulting, training, and energy saving. Accordingly, the unit is providing energy audit services (measuring, analyzing, calculating, and evaluating to determine energy consumption levels, energy saving potential, and proposing solutions for efficient and economical energy use for energy-using facilities), and occupational environment monitoring for businesses. This unit also provides consulting services for trademark protection registration, code and barcode registration such as: search and evaluation, exclusive registration of trademarks, trade names.

According to Nguyen Phu Tinh, Deputy Director in charge of Dong Nai STC, thanks to proactively developing development plans and customer care, the center has signed contracts with some large and potential customers in many fields. These contracts not only enhance the center's reputation but also open up opportunities for long-term cooperation with strategic partners.

Overcoming difficulties

With its existing potential, Dong Nai STC plans a development strategy to soon become a major technical service center in the region and nationwide. However, this center is facing some difficulties.

Regarding technical service activities in the thermoelectric field, due to being invested in a long time ago, many pieces of equipment in the thermoelectric inspection field are old and no longer ensure high accuracy, and some equipment is damaged and cannot be used. This leads to a lack of necessary equipment to meet work requirements. Although it has performed many inspection, testing, and consulting services, Dong Nai STC still faces difficulties in expanding its scale and improving service quality.

To solve the above difficulties, Dong Nai STC has determined to perform maintenance and replacement of old and outdated equipment, while strengthening brand recognition through workshops, exhibitions, and customer care services. In addition, the center plans to periodically survey customer needs, apply digital technology, and build long-term partnerships,as well as enhance competitiveness and expand the market.
