Youth Month - The kick-off for year of youth action

Youth Month is a political campaign for the entire Youth Unions at all levels, an opportunity for young people to promote their pioneering and volunteering spirit, carry out youth projects and tasks, and contribute to the development of the locality and the province.

To help spread the key tasks during Youth Month, Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio, Television conducted an interview with PHAN THE CONG, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation of the province, about these contents.

A widespread political campaign for young people

In your view, after more than 20 years of implementation, how does the significance of Youth Month in the current context differ from that in the past?

 After more than 20 years of maintaining Youth Month, I believe that this is not only a traditional milestone but also a widespread political campaign, the beginning of a year of action among young people, a symbol of action, demonstrating the pioneering, volunteering, and responsible spirit of Vietnamese youth in general, and Dong Nai youth in particular, towards the development of their homeland and country.

In the current context, as the country enters a new development stage with a strong aspiration to rise, Youth Month goes beyond "spirit" or "movement" but sets higher requirements for Youth Union chapters at all levels, union members, and youth to create substantive and sustainable values. youth union members and young people themselves not only participate in volunteering but also directly contribute to the socio-economic development tasks of the locality, especially in new fields such as digital transformation, green transition, innovation, entrepreneurship, international integration, etc.

How do you evaluate the effectiveness and the ripple effects of Youth Month in recent times?

After more than 22 years of implementation, Youth Month has affirmed that this is a correct, in-depth, and sustainably widespread policy in social life. Youth Month has created many youth projects and tasks that bring practical value, associated with socio-economic development, environmental protection, new-style rural development, construction of civilized urban areas, digital transformation, and social security.

The implementation of youth projects and tasks has opened up a space for young people to promote their pioneering spirit, venturing into new, difficult fields that require high intellectual content. More importantly, Youth Month has become a form of rallying youth union members and young people from all sectors to participate, becoming an environment for youth union members and young people to train, contribute, and grow, a place for youth union members and young people to promote their pioneering, volunteering spirit, and creative ability. Annual Youth Month has attracted a large number of youth union members and young people to participate, serving as a basis for the Youth Union organizations to expand the front of solidarity and gather young people. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for Party committees, authorities, sectors, businesses, and the social community to show their commitment to supporting and fostering the youth development.

At the launching ceremony of Youth Month 2026, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, Phan The Cong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation of the province, called on the Youth Union chapters at all levels and youth union members and young people in the province to turn Youth Month into a month of substantive action. He urged each grassroots Youth Union to carry out specific projects, and each union member to  implement practical tasks contributing to the community.

From your perspective, which qualities of youth union members and young people are most clearly revealed during Youth Month?

Through the activities of Youth Month, young people have the opportunity to clearly demonstrate their qualities, capabilities, and roles in social life. Among these, the pioneering, volunteering, and venturing spirit is one of the most evident qualities of youth union members and young people during Youth Month. This is reflected in the fact that youth union members and young people are ready to undertake and successfully complete new, difficult tasks, from remote and isolated areas to new fields that require high professional qualifications.

Apart from that, young people embody a spirit of creativity and the desire to create new value through innovative startup activities, scientific research, technology application, thereby demonstrating a pioneering role in digital transformation, green transformation, and the development of knowledge-based economy.

In addition, there is a sense of civic responsibility and a spirit of community service, demonstrated by adhering to laws, well fulfilling civic duties; participating in volunteer activities to ensure social welfare, supporting people in difficult circumstances, participating in disaster prevention and control, disease prevention, environmental protection, contributing to improving the quality of people's lives… Through this, a compassionate, responsible, and sharing lifestyle is formed; affirming the role of youth as young citizens in the new era.

Activities stemming from reality and leaving a concrete mark

Building on their achievements, what key initiatives and highlights will the Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province implement during this year's Youth Month?

Youth Month 2026 is implemented in a very special context marked by many important political events of the country and the province as well as the 95th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Therefore, the Provincial Youth Union determines that this year's Youth Month activities should not only aim to create a vibrant emulation atmosphere but also make practical contributions to the overall development tasks of the province with the motto: clear tasks - clear outcomes - clear effectiveness - clear value. Every activity must stem from practical needs and leave a concrete mark in social life.

The Provincial Youth Union has identified a system of 12 targets and youth projects to be implemented during Youth Month. Among them, the targets and projects will focus on propaganda and education for youth union members and young people; activities to promote the pioneering and voluntary role of youth union members and young people associated with the task of building advanced new-style rural areas, civilized urban areas, digital transformation, green transition, caring for children and teenagers…

In addition, we will also strengthen resource connection, support youth in accessing capital, technical consulting, encouraging the application of science and technology in production and business to accompany youth in entrepreneurship and innovation. At the same time, we will focus on building the Youth Union organizations, the Youth Union participating in Party building… contributing to the successful implementation of the goals and tasks set by Dong Nai province in 2026.

To ensure Youth Month is widely and effectively implemented and closely follows the focus of Youth Union work, what requirements and orientations do you have for the Youth Union chapters at all levels?

Youth Month is a series of activities that kick off a year of strong action among Dong Nai youth. Therefore, every activity in Youth Month, no matter how small, must contribute to creating positive value for the community, so that when Youth Month ends, what remains is not just statistic figures but also trust, widespread impact, and a real mark in the hearts of the people.

In that spirit, the Youth Union chapters at all levels need to closely follow the system of targets set by the Provincial Youth Union for Youth Month, the work program of the Youth Union and the Teenagers’ and Children's Movement of Dong Nai province in 2026, and the socio-economic development tasks of the locality. Accordingly, they will propose appropriate activities, prioritizing activities aimed at solving specific, practical problems whose effectiveness can be measured.

Youth Union organizations need to proactively advise Party committees and authorities; coordinate with departments, mass organizations, units, and businesses to be provided with mechanisms and resources to organize Youth Month activities. There’s a need to innovate organizational methods, promote the proactive and creative role of Youth Union members; flexible activities suitable for each group of Youth Union members and locality. At the same time, it is necessary to apply information technology in management and operation, evaluate the results of Youth Month activities to ensure transparency, accuracy...

On the occasion of Youth Month, what message would you like to send to youth union members and young people?

The country is entering a new development phase with many intertwined opportunities and challenges. The process of digital transformation, green transition, deep international integration, and increasingly high demands for human resource quality are posing very specific requirements for the younger generation. Therefore, today's young people not only need enthusiasm and a spirit of dedication, but also knowledge, skills, courage, and innovative thinking to adapt and rise. Consequently, every young person needs to constantly strive to learn, master science and technology, boldly start businesses, innovate production and business methods; actively participate in environmental protection, build civilized urban areas; support communities in accessing digital services...

As for this Youth Month, for every youth union member and young person, this is an opportunity to demonstrate their role as young citizens in the new era. Therefore, every young person needs to effectively demonstrate their role as a key player in creating and participating in activities, contributing to generating value for the community, affirming the role and contributions of youth to the overall development of society.
