2026 Tet filled with the warmth of military–civilian bonds

On February 7, the Party Committee and Regional Defense Command (RDC) 1 – Long Thanh, in coordination with the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of An Vien commune, organized the Military–Civilian Tet program. The event was held to celebrate the founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – 2026), welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Horse 2026, and mark the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress.

Attending the program were Colonel Nguyen Danh Trang, Head of the Political Department of the PMC; Vu Dinh Trung, Party Secretary and Chairman of People’s Council of An Vien commune; Colonel Ong Van An, Commander of RDC 1 – Long Thanh; Colonel Nguyen Tong Que, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of RDC 1 – Long Thanh; leaders of 25 communes and wards in the area, along with delegates and more than 800 officers, soldiers, and local residents.

Delivering the opening remarks, Colonel Nguyen Tong Que, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of RDC 1 – Long Thanh, stated that the Military–Civilian Tet program features many meaningful activities aimed at promoting traditional cultural values and the nation’s traditional Tet, in connection with the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Through this, the program continues to implement the movement “The Army joins hands for the poor – Leaving no one behind,” while disseminating the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws on building the great national unity bloc, in parallel with communication on military enrollment, recruitment, and the call-up of citizens for military service in 2026.

In addition, RDC 1 – Long Thanh in coordination with the Party Committee and authorities of An Vien commune, and sponsoring units, presented more than 900 gift packages and scholarships, each valued from VND 500,000 to VND 1 million, along with health insurance cards, to policy beneficiary families, revolutionary contributors, militia and self-defense forces, disadvantaged residents, and underprivileged students in the area; as well as visits and gift-giving to religious establishments.

At the same time, a “Zero-VND Tet Market” was organized for disadvantaged workers and laborers temporarily residing in the commune, offering essential necessities. The organizers also coordinated with Hanoi Eye Hospital and Shing Mark Hospital to provide free medical check-ups, medicines, and gifts to 500 disadvantaged residents in the area, along with many other practical activities. The total budget for the program amounted to nearly VND 1.1 billion.

Colonel Nguyen Tong Que emphasized that with the spirit of close military–civilian bonds under the motto “Wherever the people face hardship, the army is present; whenever the people call, the army stands by their side,” the Military–Civilian Tet program holds great significance. Beyond gift-giving, activities such as the Tet feast tray cooking contest and many other practical initiatives have helped strengthen solidarity and reinforce military–civilian unity, especially as the Year of the Horse 2026 is approaching.
