Thorough preparations underway for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term

On the afternoon of December 3, Comrade Ton Ngoc Hanh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Council, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in Dong Nai Province.

According to a report from the Department of Home Affairs, the standing body of the Provincial Election Committee, the Provincial People’s Committee has so far issued Directive No. 05/CT-UBND dated October 22, 2025 on organizing the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in Dong Nai Province; and Decision No. 2716/QD-UBND dated November 24, 2025 on the establishment of the Provincial Election Committee.

The standing body of the Provincial Election Committee has advised on the development of several draft documents, including: the implementation plan for organizing the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in Dong Nai Province; decisions on establishing subcommittees to serve election-related tasks; and guidance on determining the number of deputies, establishing electoral units, election committees, polling areas and polling teams for local authorities to carry out.

In addition, coordination has been carried out with the Provincial Police to issue official seals for the Provincial Election Committee and 95 commune and ward-level election committees, as well as to collect population data serving as the basis for determining the number of deputies and electoral units.

At the meeting, the standing body of the Provincial Election Committee proposed that the Steering Committee consolidate the provincial Election Committee and finalize its working regulations and task assignments for its members.

Regarding the establishment of subcommittees to support provincial election activities, the standing body proposed the formation of five subcommittees, focusing on the following task groups: advisory and organizational work, information and communication, security and social order, finance and logistics, and handling complaints and denunciations.

Opinions at the meeting focused on issues related to determining the composition and number of candidates for the National Assembly, as well as the number of electoral units for the National Assembly and the Provincial People’s Council.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ton Ngoc Hanh requested that the standing body of the Provincial Election Committee continue working closely with relevant agencies and units to advise the Steering Committee and the Provincial Election Committee on implementing election-related tasks in accordance with the established timeline, legal regulations, and guidelines from the Central level. The goal is to ensure the successful, democratic, equal, lawful, safe, and cost-effective organization of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term in Dong Nai Province, truly making it a "festival of the people".
