Dong Nai province has a border line stretching 258.939 kilometers adjacent to the Kingdom of Cambodia. As the specialized force responsible for border management and protection, the Party Committee and Command of the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard have effectively advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee on orientations and solutions to concretize the Party’s resolutions and State laws in practice. This has helped maintain firm management and protection of national borders and border gates.
Accordingly, coordination between the Provincial Border Guard and functional forces of the Kingdom of Cambodia has been strengthened; border lines and markers have been preserved in their original state; and the firm protection of the national border of peace and friendship has been maintained, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development and social welfare in border areas.
Concerted efforts to maintain border peace
At a recent conference between the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard (Vietnam) and the Public Security Departments of three Cambodian provinces: Tbong Khmum, Kratie and Mondulkiri (Kingdom of Cambodia), participants shared a high level of consensus in a spirit of friendship and solidarity, affirming that both sides have closely coordinated in fulfilling border management and protection tasks.

Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command and Commander of the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard, said that in 2025, the Dong Nai Border Guard (Vietnam) and the Police Departments of Tbong Khmum, Kratie and Mondulkiri provinces (Kingdom of Cambodia) coordinated the exchange of 39 delegations with 430 participating officers, and conducted 15 bilateral patrols involving 170 officers and soldiers from both sides.
On the occasions of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year of Cambodia, and anniversaries of the establishment of forces, both sides promptly exchanged letters of encouragement and congratulations in a spirit of solidarity, friendship and mutual respect.
“These activities have contributed to further consolidating the traditional neighborly relationship of friendship and solidarity, jointly addressing arising issues and maintaining stability along the border for shared development,” Colonel Nguyen Anh Duc emphasized.
Sharing his views at the conference, Major General Chhay Sokha, Deputy Director General in charge of border affairs of the National Police General Directorate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, noted that effective coordination in border management and protection, as well as in combating crimes in border areas between the Dong Nai Border Guard of Vietnam and the police of the three Cambodian provinces, has contributed to safeguarding political security and social order, while strengthening neighborly relations of friendship, solidarity and cooperation for development. He added that through cooperation, both sides have continued to strictly implement the Agreement on Border Regulations, promptly exchange information related to border management and protection, and coordinate in handling border-related crimes, thereby maintaining border lines and markers in a spirit of peace and friendship.
Continuing effective coordination
One of the outcomes of the conference was the signing of minutes of meetings between the Dong Nai Provincial Border Guard (Vietnam) and the Public Security Departments of Tbong Khmum, Kratie and Mondulkiri provinces (Cambodia).
On the basis of strengthening solidarity, friendship and cooperation for development, the parties agreed to further enhance information exchange related to security and public order along the border, including activities of hostile forces exploiting border areas for subversive purposes, international terrorist organizations, and law violators from both Vietnam and Cambodia. At the same time, they will coordinate in preventing and combating activities undermining security and order in border areas, especially acts aimed at sabotaging and sowing division in the friendship between the two countries.
During the process of friendly cooperation, the Dong Nai Border Guard and the Cambodian provincial public security forces will continue to share information on criminal activities and cooperate in combating crimes such as armed robbery, cross-border human trafficking, and illegal entry and exit.
At the recent conference, leaders of the Dong Nai Border Guard and Cambodian provincial public security also candidly discussed issues such as coordination in supporting each other in fire prevention and fighting, rescue and relief in case of fires or explosions; exchanging information and jointly addressing arising issues within their respective authorities, with the aim of building a border line of peace, friendship and cooperation for development in the new context.
Both sides agreed to effectively implement directives from higher authorities on strengthening propaganda and crackdowns on drug crimes along the border; to develop specific plans for inspection and information exchange on criminal networks, drug trafficking routes, wanted suspects and illegal border crossings. They also reaffirmed their commitment to strictly implement border agreements and regulations signed by the two governments, while facilitating lawful cross-border travel for residents of both sides for family visits, medical treatment, trade in goods and daily necessities, and tourism. At the same time, efforts will be intensified to raise public awareness among border residents about laws and bilateral agreements, encouraging them to actively participate in maintaining security, order and social safety in border areas. The two sides will continue joint patrols, inspections of national border markers within their mandates, prevention and combat of crimes, and protection of the achievements of border demarcation and marker planting agreed upon by the two governments.
The Dong Nai Border Guard and the public security departments of the three Cambodian provinces will continue to organize regular rotating conferences to exchange views, coordinate responses to emerging issues within their authority, and further consolidate and build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and shared development.
