Building a “virtuous and competent” generation of Dong Nai youth

Over the past three years (from October 2022 to the present), Youth Union organizations at all levels in Dong Nai province have overcome numerous difficulties and challenges to effectively carry out the goals and tasks of Youth Union work and movements for young people and children. These efforts have met the expectations of provincial leaders, garnered the attention and trust of society, and addressed the needs of young people and children.

Among these efforts, the work of communication and education on politics, ideology, revolutionary tradition, patriotism, ethics, lifestyle, culture, and law-abiding awareness, as well as creating an environment for young people to train and develop, has always been emphasized. This endeavor contributes to building a generation of Dong Nai youth who are “both virtuous and competent” and provides a high-quality pool of successors for the Party.

This figure serves as a vivid testament to the efforts of Youth Union organizations in the former Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces during the 2022-2025 period. Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai province, and Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Minh Kien shared that communication and education work has always been carried out by the Youth Union from the provincial to grassroots levels through various methods, both in-person and online. In particular, the Youth Union has maximized direct communication during meetings, conferences, forums, and seminars.

Within the framework of the Dong Nai Youth Festival 2025, held in the Chon Thanh and Binh Phuoc wards in October 2025, the Provincial Youth Union organized two specialized training sessions on the topics of the values of role model youth in the new era and studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh. Most impressively, in addition to the presentations by the speakers on the specialized topics, participating union members and young people also took part in the large-scale game ‘Journey of the Four Values of Role Model Youth in the New Era of Dong Nai’, which featured four challenge stations corresponding to the four role model values.

Nguyen Doan Minh Khanh, Secretary of the Youth Union Branch in quarter 7, Chon Thanh ward, said: “Attending the specialized sessions and participating in the interactive games aligned with the criteria for building the values of role model youth in the new era of Dong Nai helped me remember and fully understand these criteria, so I can apply them and implement them with the union members and young people in my branch.”

In the context of rapid developments in information technology and social media, participation in the online environment has become a daily need for young people. Recognizing this trend, the Youth Union has intensified efforts to disseminate information and educate union members and young people through digital platforms. Alongside campaigns that promote positive values and help shape standards for civilized, safe, and healthy online behavior, communication initiatives in the digital space have generated positive trends, attracting millions of youth union members and young people to access, engage with, and share content. These efforts have contributed to guiding lifestyles and behaviors among youth in cyberspace.

According to Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Minh Kien, communication and education alone are insufficient, as there must also be an environment that enables youth union members and young people to train and be challenged. The Youth Union’s revolutionary action movements, especially the Volunteer Youth Movement, provide a practical environment for young people to gain experience, contribute, and grow. In addition to peak volunteer campaigns, during the 2022-2025 period, the Youth Union and its members had opportunities to engage in new and challenging tasks. Notably, the peak campaign supporting the operation of local government at two levels, held from July 1, 2025, saw 100% of ward and commune Youth Union branches form support teams, attracting over 15,000 volunteer youth union members to assist residents and businesses with administrative procedures at the public service centers of wards and communes.

Most recently, a team of doctors, including many young physicians and nearly 100 youth union members and youth from the province, volunteered to join the provincial task force in assisting the people of Dak Lak province in overcoming the aftermath of natural disasters. During this volunteer mission, Dr. Dang Ho Nam from the Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at Dong Nai Children’s Hospital conducted medical examinations, distributed medications, and guided disease prevention and treatment to residents in areas severely affected by the storm.

Dr. Nam shared: “Although the task was challenging, being able to go and share in the difficulties of the people made me feel truly grateful. This occasion was also an opportunity for me to gain experience, grow, and become more resilient in my medical career, while contributing more to the community.”

Accompanying the development of the young generation

In addition to nurturing the younger generation and providing a high-quality pool of successors for the Party and the State, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Minh Kien emphasized that Youth Union work and the Children Movement in Dong Nai province during the 2022-2025 period are also marked by programs that accompany and support the development of the young generation.

Today’s young generation enjoys a significant advantage in accessing, mastering, and developing cutting-edge technologies. This very advantage places a considerable responsibility on the youth: they must take the lead, be proactive, and assert their role in the country’s path of development and integration.

In accompanying youth in their studies, Youth Union organizations at all levels have implemented numerous programs and activities to support and encourage students to strive for academic excellence, uphold the tradition of valuing education, foster self-learning and lifelong learning, and actively participate in building a learning society among young people. School-based Youth Unions have organized activities to support and motivate students through subject-specific Olympic competitions, academic conferences, and by establishing and developing various academic clubs, study groups, and scientific research teams.

Key movements for students have been effectively implemented, particularly the ‘Five-Good Student’ Movement, the ‘Three-Good Student’ Movement, and the ‘Three-Discipline Student’ Movement. These initiatives not only provide a training environment for students but also help guide them in developing values, cultivating proper study habits, scientific work ethics, responsibility, and creativity. In particular, students from disadvantaged backgrounds have benefited from the ‘Support to School’ program. Since 2022, Youth Union organizations in the province have mobilized and distributed over 15,000 gifts and nearly 6,800 scholarships to tens of thousands of students facing difficult circumstances.

During the 2022-2025 period, Youth Union organizations at all levels achieved or exceeded 14 out of 15 targets; the only target not fully met was related to the rate of youth joining the Youth Union organization. These results demonstrate the proactive, creative, and responsible spirit of the Youth Union organization and its youth union members and young people in implementing the resolution.

The program supporting youth in starting businesses and building careers has been vigorously implemented, especially since the post-COVID-19 period, when youth union members and young people have had a strong demand for assistance in recovery, career guidance, and skills to adapt to the new context. The Provincial Youth Union has maintained and improved the quality of organizing festivals, programs, and competitions related to entrepreneurship and career development, providing opportunities for youth union members and young people to access preferential funding, meet experts in the startup field, and connect with investment funds. At the same time, youth union members and young people were supported in completing projects to participate in the Rural Youth Startup Project Competition organized by the Central Youth Union.

In the Central Youth Union’s Rural Youth Startup Project Competition, Dong Nai’s project Tran Gia Stewed Bird’s Nest by Pham Le Dieu Hang (from Dinh Quan commune) was selected by the Provincial Youth Union to participate and advanced to the final round.

Dieu Hang shared: “Not only was my project selected, but the Provincial Youth Union also supported and guided me on how to write the project, present it before the judging panel, and covered travel expenses. Previously, my project also received development funding from the Provincial Youth Union. These supports have given me motivation and confidence throughout the startup process.”

In addition to supporting education, entrepreneurship, and career development, programs that accompany youth in life skills training, physical fitness, and cultural and spiritual enrichment have also been a key focus. These initiatives help young people enhance their skills, maintain both physical and mental well-being, and build a strong foundation to integrate confidently, take charge of their future, and contribute more to society.

This reality affirms that the Youth Union continues to play a vital role in the development journey of the younger generation; its movements and activities serve as a platform for youth union members and young people to train and mature. Therefore, the Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union must continue to accompany and support youth, strongly igniting their desire to contribute, thereby helping to build Dong Nai into a green, prosperous, civilized, and modern province.
