Dong Nai is a province in the Southern key economic region, among the top 5 provinces and cities with the largest population size in the country. It also boasts a large workforce with a high proportion of immigrant laborers. This context brings many development opportunities to the locality but also poses social issues that need attention, including gender equality and violence prevention. In recent years, in Dong Nai, gender equality is not only a social goal but also a core foundation for sustainable development, contributing to reducing poverty, improving the quality of human resources, and promoting comprehensive economic growth.
In reality, gender equality is not only a goal regarding the rights of women and men but also a driving force for growth. When women are provided with opportunities to study, improve skills, participate in labor, and hold leadership positions, the quality of human resources significantly improves, leading to increased labor productivity and economic efficiency. At the same time, gender equality contributes to reducing poverty, strengthening social cohesion, and creating a safe, civilized living environment.
In the digital age, gender equality and violence prevention face new challenges with hidden risks of increased cyber violence, online harassment, and personal information infringement, especially for women, girls, and vulnerable groups. The digital divide between regions, between advantaged and disadvantaged groups, can also easily lead to new inequalities if appropriate support solutions are not in place.
The Action Month for Gender Equality (GE) and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence, taking place from November 15 to December 15 annually, is a peak period for communicating about GE and preventing and responding to gender-based violence to raise awareness throughout society about GE and preventing and responding to gender-based violence, especially protecting women and children, who are among the vulnerable groups.
Therefore, to do a good job of GE and violence prevention in the digital age, it is first necessary to promote communication and raise awareness among both men and women about equal rights and opportunities between genders. When everyone understands and respects each other's values and roles, violence will decrease, while respect and cooperation will increase. In addition, Dong Nai also needs to pay special attention to vulnerable groups, women in remote, border areas, and immigrant laborers, helping them access information, laws, and digital skills more easily.
In parallel, functional agencies need to improve coordination mechanisms, promote digital transformation in management, and establish platforms to receive and process information on domestic violence and cyber violence quickly and safely. Education on safe internet use, identifying online violent behavior, and self-protection skills also needs to be integrated into schools, industrial parks, and residential communities. Strengthening the role of socio-political organizations, businesses, and communities in detecting and supporting victims of violence is also an important solution.
Promoting GE and preventing violence in the digital age is not only the responsibility of the government but also the duty of every individual. Focusing on communication so that everyone, especially men and women, understands that they have equal rights and opportunities in all areas - from education, work, leadership participation, to decision-making in families and society. Only then can human potential be fully unleashed, creating a sustainable, equitable, and civilized social foundation.
