On the morning of November 25, Le Truong Son, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, held a meeting with the provincial Department of Health to review issues related to the current situation and development planning of nursing homes and elderly care centers in Dong Nai province.

According to the Department of Health of Dong Nai province, following the mergers, the province currently has 21 social assistance facilities, including 2 public institutions managing, caring for, and nurturing 415 individuals, and 19 non-public facilities providing care for nearly 1,400 individuals.

Among the 18 non-public social assistance facilities (established before 2020 by organizations or individuals applying for operation permits), 14 provide care for the elderly, serving a total of 222 individuals. In June 2025, the Department of Health granted an operating license to a non-public social assistance facility in Long Khanh ward, operating under a business model with full fee collection, with the function of receiving, caring for, and nurturing elderly people.

In recent times, licensed social assistance facilities have operated effectively, contributing to the successful implementation of socialization policies and social welfare programs in the province.

In his directive remarks at the working session, Le Truong Son, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, requested the Department of Health to review regulations on the decentralization of authority to the commune level and to advise the Provincial People’s Committee in issuing directive documents, ensuring that the management of nursing homes and elderly care centers in the province is not neglected.

At the same time, regular inspection teams should be organized to assess the actual conditions at nursing homes and elderly care centers. The Department of Health is tasked with studying regulations and advising the Provincial People’s Committee in developing a planning strategy for the development of nursing homes and elderly care centers for the 2026–2030 period; attention should be given to investing in and expanding existing public facilities, while also encouraging the engagement of private entities and foreign investors.
