Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City pays farewell at the end of her term in Vietnam

On the afternoon of November 19, Nguyen Thi Hoang, Member of Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, received Ariadne Feo Labrada, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, during her visit to bid farewell at the end of her term in Vietnam.

Sharing about her time in Vietnam, Ariadne Feo Labrada noted that she had lived and worked in the country for eight years, serving both as Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam and as Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City.

Throughout her tenure, Ariadne Feo Labrada contributed significantly to strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as between Cuban provinces and Vietnamese localities. Her efforts were highly valued by the Cuban Party and State leadership. Notably, she played an important role in promoting diplomatic ties between Dong Nai and several Cuban organizations and localities.

Speaking with Ariadne Feo Labrada, Nguyen Thi Hoang expressed her appreciation for the Consul General’s sincere sentiments and meaningful contributions over the years. She emphasized that the Consul General had served as a dedicated, responsible and effective bridge in fostering the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, a relationship built on loyalty, steadfast solidarity and decades of mutual support.

For Dong Nai Province, Ariadne Feo Labrada has consistently supported the expansion and enhancement of cooperation with Cuban counterparts across multiple sectors. With her close assistance, both Dong Nai and Pinar del Rio provinces successfully signed an Agreement on Establishing a Friendly and Cooperative Relationship in October 2024, an important milestone marking the beginning of a comprehensive partnership between the two localities. Since the signing, several initiatives have been effectively implemented, building a firm foundation for long-term collaboration.

Dong Nai places strong emphasis on people-to-people diplomacy, aiming to deepen solidarity and ties between its residents and international communities. In the coming time, the province plans to establish a Steering Committee to promote the establishment of the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association. The association is expected to further strengthen traditional friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of the two countries, while reinforcing the partnership between Dong Nai and Cuban localities.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang expressed her hope that Ariadne Feo Labrada will continue to serve as a trusted bridge, contributing to the further development of the traditional friendship between Cuba and Vietnam, as well as strengthening future cooperation between Cuba and Dong Nai Province.
