Today (October 20th) marks a day to honor the fine traditions and immense contributions of Vietnamese women to the cause of national construction and defense. Over time, Vietnamese women have increasingly affirmed their positions in all fields, from scientific research, education, health care, and business to leadership roles. They constantly learn, innovate, and create to adapt to the digital age and international integration.

Emulating their “Heroic – Indomitable – Loyal – Capable” spirit, the women in Dong Nai province today continue to spread good values, awaken intellect, courage, and a spirit of creativity, contributing to the nation's development in the new era.

Making contributions across various sectors

The Dong Nai Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association currently has over 200 members. Giang Thi Lan Thu, Director of DOPHARCO Medical Supplies Joint Stock Company and Chairwoman of the Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association, stated: Members of the Dong Nai Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association always adhere to the policies of the Party and the laws of the State, build corporate culture, maintain stable production and business activities, and contribute to the local socio-economic development. Not only focusing on production and business, during the 2021-2025 period, the Association was also active in repaying debt of gratitude, poverty reduction, and social charity activities. Members raised a total amount of nearly 23 billion VND for meaningful activities.

Specifically, women entrepreneurs contributed by providing over 8,500 gifts; supporting the construction of 6 compassion houses; offering free medical examinations and medicine for over 2,000 residents; granting hundreds of health insurance cards to disadvantaged patients; and awarding scholarships and bicycles to students overcoming difficulties to study well. Furthermore, the Association participated in supporting people affected by natural disasters; Covid-19 prevention and control; and accompanied the Provincial Women’s Union in implementing the "Foster Mother" Program – supporting the care and nurturing of children orphaned by Covid-19.

Not only engaging in the production and business, but Dong Nai women are present in all aspects of social life, such as politics, economics, education, health care, culture, science-technology, and national defense-security.

Nguyen Thi Bach Mai, Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial Women Intellectuals Association, has worked in various environments, from state agencies to businesses. According to Bach Mai, through her working process, she recognized the increasing participation of women in various fields, including those that were traditionally considered less suitable for women. What is special is that in any position or field, the women always demonstrate their high sense of responsibility and creative ability. A typical example is that members of the Provincial Women Intellectuals Association currently work in state agencies, hospitals, schools, and businesses. Some not only excel in their family roles and complete their assigned duties at their agencies and units but also engage in further study to enhance professional qualifications, conduct scientific research, and contribute valuable research projects to the community, gradually elevating the position of women in all aspects of social life.

Responding to movements and campaigns launched by the Union, female officials, members, and women across the province have actively participated in and made significant contributions to the national program of building new-style countryside. Recently, all levels of the Union registered and implemented nearly 1,500 practical projects and tasks, with a total value of nearly 52 billion VND.

Through their participation in savings models and mutual support for economic development and poverty escape, Dong Nai women have joined hands with the entire country to realize the goal of "for the poor – leaving no one behind."

Most recently, in response to the movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025," all levels of the Union mobilized the construction of 92 charity houses for disadvantaged female members, contributing to Dong Nai province's goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing.

Steadfastly moving into the new era

2025 marks the 95th glorious journey of the Vietnam Women's Union organization, and it is also the time when Vietnam prepares to enter a new era – an era of national ascension.

Bui Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union and Head of the Provincial Women’s Affairs Committee, stated: The Provincial Women's Union identifies that the new context requires all levels of the Union and its members to enhance educational levels, professional skills, and digital capacity to keep pace with the development of science-technology, digital transformation, and the knowledge economy. Furthermore, it requires a spirit of innovation, proactive adaptation to changes, and the courage to think, act, and take responsibility among the Union's staff; implementing "3 Closenesses" (close to the people, close to the grassroots, close to the digital space), "5 Musts" (must listen to, must engage in dialogue, must lead by example, must take responsibility, must report results), and "4 No's" (no formality, no avoidance, no shirking, no acting outside of function).

The new context also necessitates that the Union organization should strongly renovate its content and methods of operation, apply technology, expand its connectivity network, and accompany women of all backgrounds, ages, and professions. The Union is not just a place to gather members but also a center to support, accompany, inspire, and elevate Vietnamese women.

Bui Thi Hanh believed that, to meet the requirements of the new context, members and women need to deeply understand these demands. Therefore, in the coming time, all levels of the Union need to innovate propaganda methods, raise awareness, and enhance capacity, aiming to build the new-era Dong Nai women who are knowledgeable, ethical, healthy, responsible, digitally skilled, courageous, and aspiring to contribute. She emphasized the need to renovate leadership, direction, and operational methods by implementing comprehensive digital transformation in the Union's management and administration; gradually empowering the commune-level Women's Unions, encouraging a spirit of creativity, and piloting new models locally. Simultaneously, it is necessary to enhance the effectiveness of coordination, connection, and resource mobilization; actively participate in national target programs to create opportunities for women to access policies, improve their lives, and develop comprehensively.

With the attention of the Party and State, the companionship of the Union organization, and the ceaseless efforts of every union member and woman in Dong Nai, the Vietnam Women's Union in general, and the Dong Nai Provincial Women's Union in particular, will continue to make new strides, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State, and the expectations of officials, members, and women.

BUI THI HANH, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union, Head of the Provincial Women's Affairs Committee

According to Bui Thi Hanh, the strength of the women's movement originates from each individual woman. To contribute to realizing the aspiration of building a prosperous and happy nation and Dong Nai province, every official, member, and woman needs to nurture a lifelong learning spirit; proactively access new knowledge and technology; dare to change to adapt to the digital age. Furthermore, they need to confidently start businesses, boldly participate in management and leadership roles, and actively dedicate themselves to the community.

Vice Chairwoman of the Women Intellectuals Association, Nguyen Thi Bach Mai, believed that for women intellectuals, besides their professional knowledge, they need to constantly learn and accumulate further understanding from social realities; thereby, transforming knowledge into valuable products, making practical contributions to the development of the locality, unit, and the country. At the same time, the women intellectuals need to accompany women from all walks of life in continuing the glorious tradition of the Women's Union and Vietnamese women.
