Voters in Thong Nhat commune raise concerns and proposals on healthcare issues

On the afternoon of September 23, the National Assembly (NA) Delegation of Dong Nai province’s Constituency No. 2, including deputies: Bui Xuan Thong, Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Provincial delegation of NA deputies; Le Hoang Hai, full-time NA deputy at the NA's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment; Do Huy Khanh, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Phuoc An commune, met with voters in Thong Nhat commune.

At the conference, the NA Delegation of Constituency No. 2 informed voters about the expected content and agenda of the 10th Session of 15th NA, as well as the results of the activities of the Provincial delegation of NA deputies following the 9th Session, 15th NA.

At the conference, voters raised many opinions, with particular concern given to healthcare sector, such as the current very high price of cancer treatment drugs at medical facilities, causing great difficulties for poor patients with low incomes. Although there are some price subsidy policies, they are still not enough to reduce the financial burden on cancer patients.

Therefore, voters proposed that the NA and the Ministry of Health would have solutions to negotiate with manufacturers to reduce the price of cancer treatment drugs; at the same time, improve the health insurance system, expand the list of highly effective cancer treatment drugs covered by health insurance, and ensure that such drugs are provided free of charge for children aged 0-6 suffering from cancer.

The voters also expressed concern about the progress of constructing Cho Ray Hospital Facility 2. According to the voters, Cho Ray Hospital is one of the important medical facilities under the Ministry of Health, treating severe and specialized cases in the Southern region. However, Cho Ray Hospital is always overloaded with a very large number of patients seeking medical examination and treatment, which significantly affects the care and treatment for the people.

The voters proposed that the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies have specific solutions for Cho Ray Hospital 2 (currently under construction in Binh Loi commune, Ho Chi Minh City) to soon come into operation, meeting the medical examination and treatment needs of the people in the Southern region to reduce the burden on the current Cho Ray Hospital.

The opinions and proposals raised by the voters were discussed and answered by the NA deputies, leaders of departments and sectors, and local authorities at the conference.

At the conference, Bui Xuan Thong, Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Head of the Provincial delegation of NA deputies, also clarified further issues of concern to voters. He also stated that all voters’ opinions would be acknowledged, compiled, and categorized to be submitted to the competent authorities for resolution; and that their handling would be monitored and supervised.
