When the Government gave Independence Day gifts to the people, the heads of the village/hamlet/neighborhood Fatherland Front working committees (FFWC) coordinated with the management boards to provide information to each household via the community Zalo group about the form, time, and location of gift collection; fulfilling the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s supervisory role in the distribution of gifts to the people.
This is just one of the activities reflecting the bridging role of FFWC heads in Dong Nai province in recent times.
1,770 BRIDGES IN THE NAME OF THE VIETNAM FATHERLAND FRONT
At present, all 1,770 hamlets, neighborhoods, and villages in Dong Nai province have established FFWC heads. Each FFWC head promotes the bridging role in mobilizing and gathering people from all walks of life; strengthening social consensus; and fostering the spirit of community self-management.
In Trung Kien neighborhood (Tran Bien ward), during the recent Government gift distribution on Independence Day, FFWC head of the neighborhood Pham Huy Toan carried out supervision of household information and signed receipts. For families that had not yet updated household information, Toan, along with the neighborhood head, directly verified it; if a family had not yet come to receive the gift, he called the head of the household to ask the reason and provide support.

Toan said: When there is information about an incident, residents in the community immediately contact members of the neighborhood management board for verification. Therefore, he and the management board always strive to provide accurate and timely information to everyone, to stabilize public opinion and help people avoid seeking unverified information themselves.
Veteran To Hoai Bac, FFWC head of neighborhood 25, Long Binh ward, said: The neighborhood has 637 families, two-thirds of whom are Catholic. Before 2012, the alleys were still dirt roads with narrow widths. Thus, the management board’s key issue was how to mobilize the people to contribute together with State resources to upgrade the roads.
First, Bac and the management board encouraged financially capable families to contribute early as role models. For households unable to pay right away, Bac persuaded wealthier families to advance funds on their behalf. In addition, to reduce the financial burden on residents, the management board actively mobilized support from other sources. For example, when implementing the road connecting groups 8 and 9 to Dieu Xien street, the cost reached 300 million VND but local contributions only covered 50%. The management board then mobilized residents from other streets to support the remaining amount.
At the same time, Bac encouraged residents to contribute money to promptly repair damaged spots on local roads, to prevent further deterioration. Over the past 8 months, residents have repaired more than 200 meters of damaged roads themselves.
Vice Chairman of the VFF Committee of Long Binh ward Phan Thien Thuat said: Many of the initiatives and methods of mobilization by Bac and the management board are bright examples for the locality, including rallying the people to improve alleys.
EFFORTS UNDERWAY TO SERVE PEOPLE’S LIVELIHOODS
In the first 8 months of 2025, especially during the 2 months of operating the two-tier local government model, each FFWC head maintained and continued to promote the bridging role in building a united, prosperous, and happy community; and enhancing the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy.
Party Cell Secretary and FFWC head of hamlet 9, Xuan Dong commune Ho Quoc Hong said: In addition to 251 permanent households, the hamlet also has many migrant workers from other provinces working and temporarily residing in local farms. To ensure no residents are overlooked, Hong and the hamlet management board assisted employers in registering temporary residence for the workers. Thanks to this, when anyone faced difficulties, the hamlet management board was the first to be informed.
Hong recalled: At the end of 2024, a woman came to the hamlet to work and then fell seriously ill. As she had no relatives, Hong assigned women from the Party cell and mass organizations to take turns caring for her. After some time, the woman passed away. The hamlet management board raised 27 million VND to arrange her funeral.
Hong added: “Whether newcomers or permanent residents, everyone needs attention, especially those in hardship. This is one of the core tasks of FFWC, so I strive to connect each household and individual to help those less fortunate.”
According to Member of the Provincial Standing Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai province Ha Anh Dung, hamlets, villages, and neighborhoods are currently holding FFWC conferences for the 2025–2027 term. Meanwhile, from September 8, 2025, VFF Committees of communes and wards will begin holding VFF Congresses for the 2025–2030 term
According to Vong A Ung, a respected figure among the ethnic minority community in Xuan Dong commune, for many years he served as FFWC head of hamlet 7. In early September 2025, he took the role of Deputy Head of hamlet 7. The hamlet has nearly 250 families, more than half of whom are the ethnic Hoa (Chinese-Vietnamese) people. To encourage ethnic minority residents to actively participate in local activities, he established the Hoa Multi-Generational Club. Through the club, he shared Party and State policies, as well as knowledge he had received during training for community leaders, with the residents.
Additionally, for families with relatives abroad, he reminded each household that when their relatives return to visit, they must report to the authorities as required. Moreover, when the province organized spring gatherings for overseas Vietnamese, he informed local families to invite their relatives to attend. This helps overseas Vietnamese understand the development of the country and of Dong Nai province.
