In the sacred and special days of autumn, Dong Nai Province, a land rich in Southern culture and warmth, joins the nation in joyful celebration of Independence Day. All eyes are turned toward the capital city, Hanoi, the heart of the country, where a series of meaningful activities are taking place to mark the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2.

This year's Independence Day holds extra significance, not only marking 80 years since the founding of the nation, but also following a historic moment, the revolution of "reshaping the national map", positioning Vietnam to rise into a new era of growth and prosperity. That is why the people's feelings toward this Independence Day are especially proud, as they witness the imprint of national development.

Flags flying high across city streets

Adding to the joy of the 80th Independence Day celebration, Dong Nai welcomes this autumn of renewal with continuous socio-economic progress. As a key economic province in southern Vietnam, Dong Nai stands on the threshold of a new era of national "take-off." The province currently ranks ninth nationwide in area, fifth in population, and fourth in economic scale, with living standards steadily improving. Backed by a solid foundation in economy, society, national defense, and security, along with a culturally rich community, people across Dong Nai are joining forces to realize future development goals.

Thach Thi My Phuoc, head of the Women's Union chapter in Phuoc Hoa Quarter, Binh Phuoc Ward, and a respected figure among local ethnic minority communities, shared that: "From the time of the ward's Party Congress to the activities celebrating 80 years of the August Revolution and National Day, every corner of Binh Phuoc has been adorned with colorful flags and flowers. Local agencies and residents have joined hands to clean up and decorate their homes, streets, and public spaces to joyfully welcome this important national holiday. In the early mornings or late afternoons, public squares come alive with folk dance groups performing to revolutionary songs, bringing a cheerful and energetic atmosphere, with a deep sense of national pride spreading throughout the community."

"I'm 47 years old, just over half of the nation's 80-year journey, but I can clearly feel the immense progress of our homeland and country. From my own family to ethnic communities, life and education levels are steadily improving," Phuoc said.

In Tran Bien Ward, often referred to as Dong Nai's "super ward", the streets these days appear to be wearing a fresh new look. Major roads and intersections such as the Mit Garden area, Hung Dao Vuong roundabout near Bien Hung Park, Song Pho roundabout, and Vung Tau intersection are decked out with billboards, posters, and vibrant decorations promoting the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. In residential neighborhoods, alleyways are lined with red national and Party flags, neatly and respectfully displayed, a reflection not only of civic compliance but also of collective pride and unity.

Businesses and service establishments like cafes and restaurants are also catching the trend by decorating their spaces with eye-catching designs and creating check-in corners under the theme of Independence Day (September 2). Notably, Sonadezi Tower at Vung Tau intersection uses modern lighting technology to project images of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence, national and Party flags, and fireworks across an entire building wall at night. From elegant restaurants and spacious coffee shops to roadside takeaway stalls, national flags and iconic slogans such as "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom" can be seen everywhere. All of these create spaces full of Vietnamese spirit, conveying national pride and the values of independence and peace to people of all generations, especially the youth.

At many agencies, businesses, and schools, alongside colorful decorations, flag-raising ceremonies are held to mark Independence Day. These often include synchronized performances to create a formation resembling the map of Vietnam and the national flag, competitions, and performances recreating the historic events of September 2, 1945, all contributing to a stronger sense of national pride and patriotism.

Nationwide spirit in every corner

Though unable to be in Hanoi for the grand celebrations, the people of Dong Nai are turning their hearts toward Ba Dinh Square, the historic site of the 80th anniversary ceremony, with patriotic love, pride, and a strong sense of unity.

Following the merger of the former Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces, the newly formed Dong Nai now boasts a larger territory, greater development scale, and elevated ambitions. As a result, the holiday spirit is more vibrant than ever, from the bustling urban and industrial zones of Tran Bien and Nhon Trach to the active construction site of Long Thanh International Airport, from fruitful orchards in Bu Dang and Long Khanh to joyful singing and dancing in the ethnic villages of Ta Lai and Bom Bo.

In the lead-up to the national celebration, many agencies and organizations in Dong Nai launched meaningful activities that drew strong public participation. Notably, on the morning of August 24, Duong Tu Giang Park was awash in red as more than 1,000 participants from 37 fitness clubs under the Dong Nai Gymnastics Federation, dressed in ao dai bearing the red flag with a yellow star, came together for a synchronized artistic formation performance in celebration of National Day.

Notably, on August 24 at Duong Tu Giang Park, more than 1,000 people dressed in ao dai patterned with the red flag and golden star, representing 37 fitness clubs of the Dong Nai Gymnastics Federation, joined a synchronized performance to welcome National Day.

Young people in Dong Nai are celebrating Independence Day in their own meaningful ways. Many choose to visit cinemas to watch films or music videos about the revolutionary struggle, deepening their understanding and appreciation of peace. Others head to cafes and restaurants decorated in vibrant red and gold, taking photos with national flag displays and sharing them on social media to spread the festive spirit. For Nguyen Ba Toan, a resident of Bien Hoa Ward, the holiday break is a chance to spend more time with family. He is also looking forward to watching the live broadcast of the parade from the capital, Hanoi.

"In my view, patriotism and pride are quietly expressed through even the smallest actions, each carrying a personal aspiration to contribute to the development of our homeland and country," Toan shared.
