Loc Tan maintains security and order in the border area

Loc Tan is a border commune of Dong Nai province, with nearly 19 kilometers of border adjoining the Kingdom of Cambodia, where certain types of crime remain complex. However, thanks to effective advisory work, a thorough grasp of the local situation, and decisive action against various crimes, security and order in the area have been maintained to date, with no new complex situations arising.

Grasping security situations from the grassroots

The Loc Tan Commune Police oversee an area with a total natural land area of more than 18,300 hectares. As usual, to promptly update and gather information from the grassroots, the Working Group of the Loc Tan Commune Police visited the home of Le Thanh Tung, a resident of hamlet K54.

Hamlet K54 covers more than 1,200 hectares, with residents spread across the entire locality. Law violators often take advantage of this area to hide, making Hamlet K54 a place with a consistently high potential risk to public security and order. Having lived here for many years, Tung knows the people and the land well. When he saw the patrol team arrive at his house, he cheerfully said, "Seeing the Patrol Team makes me feel more secure. I hope the authorities and local residents here will regularly monitor public security and order, promptly detect crimes, and prevent them as early as possible."

Nguyen Van Tien, Head of the hamlet K54 Executive Committee, shared that the security and order situation in the hamlet has improved significantly since regular police forces were assigned to work at the grassroots level.

"Since the regular police took charge of the commune, especially after the establishment of the grassroots security and order protection team, these forces have regularly coordinated with the hamlet Executive Committee to patrol, monitor the situation, and ensure security and order. At present, the security and order situation in Hamlet K54 is stable, and residents feel assured in their daily lives and production activities," said Nguyen Van Tien.

Many effective models for maintaining security and order

In the first six months of 2025, Loc Tan Commune recorded three cases involving seven offenders related to social order crimes. Authorities detected and arrested one case with one offender for illegal possession and use of narcotics, and prepared dossiers to send 11 individuals for compulsory rehabilitation. They also received and processed two crime reports. Through public awareness and mobilization campaigns, residents voluntarily surrendered 35 various homemade weapons, two homemade firearms, and one box of firecrackers.

To ensure security and order, promptly address issues, and prevent the emergence of complex situations, the Loc Tan Commune Police are maintaining a number of effective public security models, including: Hamlet Security Patrol Teams; "For a Peaceful Life"; Veterans Participating in Maintaining Security and Order; the "Security Gong" initiative; Security Cameras; and the Self-Defense, Self-Management, and Self-Protection model for Security and Order in Hamlet K54. The functional forces consistently keep a firm grasp on the situation in external areas, security along the border, and political security within the locality, while advising local Party committees and authorities on measures to ensure security and order, and resolutely combating all forms of crime.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Thanh Thoi, Deputy Chief of Loc Tan Commune Police, said: "Once we identify hotspots and key locations where offenders often operate, we focus our efforts on tackling them, applying professional measures to completely resolve the issues. To date, the security and order situation in the commune has been basically stable, and the number of violations has decreased compared to the same period last year".

The Loc Tan Commune Police have determined that, alongside Party building and force development, effectively advising the local Party Committee and authorities in directing security and order work in the area is a top priority. They also attach great importance to ensuring the absolute safety of political events and visits by Party and State leaders. In addition, the Commune Police focus on maintaining stability, preventing the emergence of complex security and order situations, resolutely combating all types of crime, effectively implementing the tasks under Project 06 and online public services, and regularly patrolling to maintain traffic safety and order. These are the core tasks that enable the force to fulfill its professional duties while accompanying the locality in building and developing its socio-economic landscape in the new phase.
