In the context of globalisation, a market-oriented economy, and the boom of information technology, young people are easily influenced by diverse streams of thought and culture. Therefore, educating and guiding them towards positive values, while creating an environment for the young people to develop their potential, creativity, and spirit of volunteerism, serves as a crucial foundation for nurturing a generation of knowledgeable, ethical, resilient citizens with a strong aspiration to contribute to the nation.

According to Nguyen Minh Kien, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai Province, and Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, the most important task of the Youth Union is to disseminate, educate, and guide its members. Therefore, this work has been consistently carried out by the Youth Union at all levels.
Innovating education and orientation
This is an urgent requirement to enhance the effectiveness of youth education and guidance. For this reason, even the study of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s thought, Party and Youth Union directives and resolutions, as well as political theory lessons, have been innovated by the Provincial Youth Union through online courses and tests on its e-learning platform. This not only enables young members to access knowledge anytime and anywhere, but also helps improve management, supervision, and assessment of study quality across grassroots units.
Youth organizations in the province have also focused on applying information technology by digitizing “red addresses” to systematize and vividly introduce local historical and cultural sites through images, videos, documents and interactive content. This serves as a valuable resource for research while also providing an attractive tool for organizing traditional education activities in the context of digital transformation.
To fulfill their mission in this era of development, every young person must possess patriotism and national pride, ethics and responsibility, a spirit of lifelong learning and innovation, professional working manners, adaptability and integration skills, perseverance, and the will to overcome difficulties.
Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union NGUYEN MINH KIEN
Through the official websites of the Provincial Youth Union and its social media platforms, such as Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok, many inspiring stories of young members have been shared, contributing to their orientation towards a positive lifestyle.
Additionally, Youth Union organizations at all levels have launched various political activities in conjunction with significant national and provincial anniversaries. For example, to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – 2025) and National Day ( September 2, 1945 – 2025), the Provincial Youth Union and the Viet Nam Youth Federation organized the “I Love My Fatherland” journey with activities such as simultaneous flag salute ceremonies, presenting national flags to border communes, and mass performances forming the map of Viet Nam with the national flag and the phrase “I Love My Fatherland”.
On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 –2025), Youth Union branches organized return-to-the-roots trips, offered incense and candles at martyrs’ cemeteries and memorial sites, visited and presented gifts to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, revolution contributors and policy beneficiary families, while maintaining meaningful initiatives such as “Meals of gratitude” for Heroic Mothers and martyrs’ families, people with meritorious services to the revolution…
Nguyen Thi My Hien, Secretary of the Youth Union of Long Khanh 1 residential area, Tam Phuoc Ward, who participated in the activities, shared: This activity is profoundly meaningful and educational. It helps us deeply understand the value of peace, so that we live more responsibly and worthily, in gratitude to the sacrifices of previous generations.
Leading young people through action
The Youth Union not only guides young people with words but also leads them through action via its revolutionary movements. Among them, the movement "Vietnamese Children emulate to follow Uncle Ho's five teachings" has provided an appropriate environment for children and teenagers to train and grow.
Hoang Thi Thuy Nga, teacher and General Commander of Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization of Le Van Tam Primary School in Tran Bien ward, shared: From the movement, our school translated it into concrete activities to both raise awareness and help students practise according to the criteria on loving the Fatherland and compatriots; studying well and working hard; uniting and observing discipline; maintaining hygiene; being modest, honest and brave. Step by step, this has helped shape positive values among children.”
While members of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization and teenagers have the above emulation movement, Youth Union members actively engage in revolutionary movements and the Volunteer Youth Campaigns, which have long been considered effective platforms to promote youth enthusiasm, volunteerism and dedication.
Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Minh Kien noted that this year’s summer volunteer campaign is particularly significant, as it coincides with the nation’s efforts to streamline organisational apparatus and implement the two-tier local government model. From early on, the Provincial Youth Union identified this as an opportunity for the Youth Union and its members to demonstrate their pioneering role, volunteer spirit, and creativity, thereby creating meaningful contributions and affirming their role and position.
Right from the early days of the two-tier local government model, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the Provincial Youth Union directed all ward and commune-level Youth Unions to establish volunteer teams to support its implementation. These teams not only operate locally but also extend support to border, remote and far-off communes.
Le Ngoc Trung Hieu, a student of Dong Nai Medical College, who joined a volunteer team assisting the two-tier local government model in Loc Thanh commune, shared: Spending two weeks with people in the border commune was the most meaningful time. I had the chance to learn about their lives, value what I have, and strive harder in my studies and practice to contribute more to society in the future.
