At the gathering, Director of the DoFA Huynh Thi Be Nam noted that 2025 marks the historic milestone of the 80th anniversary of the establishment and development of Vietnam’s diplomatic sector (August 28, 1945 – 2025). This has been a glorious journey closely associated with the cause of national construction and defense. Over the last eight decades, the diplomatic sector has grown steadily and made significant contributions to the historic victories of the Vietnamese revolution.

Building on the achievements of Vietnam’s diplomatic sector, the DoFA has made consistent efforts to strengthen its organizational structure, enhance the functions and duties of its divisions, proactively advise on and implement external affairs, expand international cooperation, foster friendship, and manage peaceful and friendly borders. These efforts have contributed significantly to the province’s economic, cultural, and social development as well as international integration.

In his directive remarks, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Truong Son stressed that Dong Nai has left many marks in the country’s diplomatic service over the years. In particular, in border diplomacy, Dong Nai Province and Cambodia’s border provinces have maintained and strengthened their relations.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee highlighted that after the recent merger, Dong Nai has opened up a new development space with a border length of over 258 kilometers, large forest areas with two national parks and the Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve, and especially a synchronized transport infrastructure system. These advantages create substantial potential to attract investment, particularly from large corporations, thereby boosting the province’s economic growth.

Looking ahead, Dong Nai will continue to promote transport infrastructure development, with Long Thanh International Airport serving as a driving force to spread values across the province. Given these advantages, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Le Truong Son requested the diplomatic sector to devise strategies to promote Dong Nai’s potentials, strengths, and image; foster international relations and cooperation; and advise Provincial leaders on development directions to keep pace with new requirements.

In its diplomatic work with other countries in general, Dong Nai’s diplomatic sector must focus on strengthening both economic and cultural diplomacy. Border and territorial work must be emphasized, with close coordination with relevant agencies to safeguard border markers and ensure integrity. The province will continue to expand international cooperation and foreign economic development. These are crucial tasks requiring the DoFA to actively make recommendations and proposals to Provincial leaders. Human resources must also be improved in both quality and capacity to meet new challenges.

In the first eight months of 2025, the DoFA advised the Provincial People’s Committee to send 56 working delegations abroad, including 10 led by Provincial leaders. At the same time, the Department advised the Provincial People’s Committee in receiving and working with a total of 99 delegations, including 17 foreign delegations paying courtesy visits and working in the province, while the remaining 82 delegations consisted of international experts, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and foreigners engaging in charity work and cultural exchanges.

Currently, Dong Nai maintains 38 valid Provincial-level memoranda of understanding on international agreements. The DoFA has also managed and safeguarded the border markers along demarcated lines and promptly resolved emerging border issues, preventing prolonged complications.
