On the morning of August 24, the Party Committee and Commanders of Brigade 22, under the Tank and Armored Corps held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the brigade's tradition day (August 25, 1975 - 2025) and receive the Third Class Fatherland Defence Medal. Major General Do Dinh Thanh, Commander of the Tank and Armored Corps attended and directed the ceremony.

Also attending the ceremony were: Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Son, Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of Army Officer Training College 2; Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; military generals who are commanders, former commanders of the former 4th Corps, the current 34th Corps and representatives of agencies and units inside and outside the army.

Reviewing the 50-year tradition of establishment, combat, and growth, Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan, Commander of Brigade 22, said: On August 25, 1975, at Phu Dong base, now located in Hanh Thong ward, Ho Chi Minh City, comrade Mai Van Phuc, on behalf of the Tank and Armored Corps Command, announced the decision of the Minister of National Defense to establish the Tank and Armored Corps Brigade 22 under the former 4th Corps, now under the Tank and Armored Corps. Since then, August 25 every year has become the unit's traditional day.
After 50 years of establishment, combat, and growth, Brigade 22 has participated in many fierce battles, achieved resounding victories associated with many famous places on the Southeast battlefield in the resistance war against the U.S. imperialists to save the country as well as in the resistance war to protect the Southwest border, helping the friendly country Cambodia. These accomplishments have glorified the heroic history and established the tradition of: “Solidarity and coordination, proactive creativity, self-reliance, and determination to win.”
In response to the requirement of building a streamlined and strong, elite army, on December 11, 2024, Brigade 22 was transferred from the old 4th Corps to the Tank and Armored Corps; marking a major milestone in the brigade's journey of building, fighting and growing. From here, Brigade 22 was tasked to be the strategic reserve force of the Ministry of National Defense in the Southern region. Recognizing its achievements in 50 years of establishment, combat, and growth, Brigade 22 was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State along with many noble awards such as: Second-class Military Exploit Medal; First, Second and Third-class Military Exploit Order, Third-class Fatherland Defence Medal; and was awarded many Flags and Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of National Defense, the Tank and Armored Corps Command, and Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, contributing to embellishing the tradition of "Winning every battle" of the heroic Vietnam Tank and Armored Corps soldiers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Do Dinh Thanh, Commander of the Tank and Armored Corps, commended, acknowledged and congratulated the achievements of the officers and soldiers of Brigade 22. At the same time, he requested that, in response to the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, the Party Committee and Commanders of Brigade 22 regularly and thoroughly grasp the Resolution of the 8th Central Committee on "Strategy for Protecting the Fatherland in the new situation"; the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Party Organization of Tank and Armored Corps, focusing on improving the overall quality and combat strength, building a strong unit in all aspects. Officers and soldiers clearly define goals and ideals, remain steadfast in all situations, avoid passivity or unexpectedness, and get ready to receive and complete all tasks well.
Along with that is the deployment, concretization and effective implementation of higher-level resolutions, improving the quality of training; implementing well the training motto; attaching importance to synchronous and in-depth training, closely aligned with actual combat conditions, training to master new technical equipment. Military training should be integrated with political education, logistics, and technical support, while also fostering soldiers’ willpower, discipline, and health.
Major General Do Dinh Thanh noted that the Party Committee and Commanders of Brigade 22 pay attention to and regularly take care of building a clean and strong Party organization and a strong Brigade in all aspects, focusing on management, education and training of Party members; promoting the "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" campaign in conjunction with the Campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of being Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new period; implementing the grassroots democracy regulations well, ensuring the brigade's unity in will and action, preventing violations of law and discipline from occuring in the unit...
Authorized by the President, Major General Do Dinh Thanh awarded the Third Class Fatherland Defence Medal to officers and soldiers of Brigade 22 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its tradition.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province presented Brigade 22 with a banner inscribed with the motto: "Solidarity, coordination, proactive creativity, self-reliance and determination to win" and certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in 50 years of establishment, combat and growth of Brigade 22.
