Vietnam has supported the removal of nearly 209,000 temporary and dilapidated houses.

(ĐN)- On May 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Central Steering Committee for the nationwide elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh co-chaired the nationwide online conference of the Central Steering Committee for the nationwide elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.

Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Thai Bao and Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Duong Minh Dung chaired the conference at the Dong Nai provincial bridge point.

Since its implementation, the nationwide program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has supported the removal of nearly 209 thousand temporary and dilapidated houses. 15 localities have completed the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The remaining localities will complete this program from now until the end of October 2025. Accordingly, from now until the end of October 2025, the entire country needs to start construction on over 61.8 thousand houses.

To achieve the set goals, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, sectors, and localities to focus on implementing a number of key tasks, including: continuing to consolidate the members of the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses at all levels. Strengthening information and propaganda work to raise awareness among cadres, civil servants, public employees, agencies, organizations, businesses, and people, creating consensus and promoting the combined strength of the entire society in implementing the nationwide elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. Localities need to decisively implement to strive to basically complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by the end of October 31, 2025.

Units must proactively grasp and handle difficulties and obstacles to promptly resolve issues arising during the implementation of the movement; strengthen inspection, supervision, and urging the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in localities to evaluate and draw lessons. During the summary of the nationwide program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, it is necessary to promptly commend collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, sectors, and localities to prioritize housing support for people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs. Strengthen communication and create social consensus, especially in mobilizing financial resources and labor to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. During the implementation of the movement, it is necessary to uphold the spirit of 6 clear points: clear people, clear tasks, clear responsibilities, clear authority, clear implementation progress time, completion deadline, and clear results, to accelerate the completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025.

In Dong Nai, the number of poor and near-poor households, and people in difficult circumstances included in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is 265 households and 110 families with meritorious services to the revolution who need housing support. To date, 168 houses have been supported and started construction before April 30, 2025.
