Vietnam resolutely opposes to and requests Taiwan (China) to stop live-fire drills in the waters around Ba Binh island of Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and not to repeat the action in the future, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Le Thi Thu Hang has said.

Responding to the press' question on this issue on June 11, Hang stressed that Taiwan’s staging of live-fire drills around Ba Binh has seriously infringed upon Vietnam's territorial sovereignty over the archipelago, threatening peace, stability, and navigation security and safety, causing tensions and complicating the situation in the East Sea.

She reiterated that Vietnam has sufficient historical evidence and legal basis to assert its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law.
