President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez will pay an official visit to Vietnam from November 8-11, Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emilio Lozada told a special press conference on October 29.
During the stay, the Cuban leader will meet bilaterally with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and join other activities.
One of the highlights in the agenda will be a new trade agreement between the two countries, which is expected to lift two-way trade, he said.
Vietnam is now the second largest trade partner of Cuba in Asia and the Oceania.
During the foreign trip from November 1-12, Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, and leaders of the State Duma and Council of Federation.
In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Cuban leader will meet Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly Kim Yong-nam and other high-ranking State leaders.
While in China from November 6-8, he will meet President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqang and leaders of the National People’s Congress, and attend the China International Import Expo in Shanghai.
On the occasion, both sides will sign agreements on technology, renewable energy and tourism.
In Laos, the Cuban leader will meet Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Volachith, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the National Assembly Pany Yathotou.
As part of his first official visit to Laos, the two sides will sign cooperation agreements on banking and trade.
